Is postpartum hemorrhage serious?

I believe many of my friends understand that women need care in all aspects because their bodies are very weak after giving birth. Some of you may know that some women are prone to lochia and internal bleeding after childbirth. The phenomena of lochia and bleeding are very similar, so many patients will be confused. So many friends asked whether postpartum hemorrhage is serious? Let’s take a look at the simple explanation below.

At present, postpartum hemorrhage is still the leading cause of maternal mortality in my country. Postpartum hemorrhage is a common and serious complication in obstetrics and one of the critical obstetric conditions. This mainly refers to those whose vaginal bleeding exceeds 500 ml within 24 hours after delivery. It is worth noting that mothers are most likely to suffer from postpartum hemorrhage within two hours after delivery, with 400 ml of bleeding within 2 hours after delivery.

The main cause of this symptom is weak uterine contractions, and the clinical manifestations are rapid and heavy bleeding from the birth canal, or continuous small amounts of bleeding. Excessive bleeding in the mother can lead to shock, disseminated intravascular coagulation, and even death. Therefore, you still need to be observed in the delivery room after giving birth. . It may also be accompanied by dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, edema, milk stagnation, hair loss, chills, etc.

Hongqiang Maternity Nurse reminds us that postpartum hemorrhage is the most important issue that mothers need to pay attention to on the first day after delivery. Therefore, no matter how tired or weak you are, observing your bleeding volume is the most important task for new mothers. Therefore, when going to the toilet, the mother should be careful to collect sanitary pads and other items and not throw them away. If there is a lot of bleeding or vaginal discharge of tissue, she should inform the doctor in time.

Generally speaking, the amount of postpartum bleeding is small, and the patient will recover quickly after stopping the bleeding and controlling the condition. However, some women have very severe postpartum bleeding, and are prone to multiple bleeding and blood loss. Such women must go to the hospital for treatment in time, otherwise their lives may be in danger.
