Female urethra urination diagram

The urethra is the male reproductive organ that all animals have. Both women and men have their own place to urinate, which is called the urethra in medicine. The urethra opening of boys is just above their sexual organs, so where is the urethra of women? What are the parts of a woman's urethra?

I still remember seeing a report a few days ago that said a couple had been married for 2 years but had not gotten pregnant. They went to the hospital for a check-up and found that the urethra opening was red and swollen. It turned out that it was because they inserted the penis into the urethra opening every time. All of this is due to the lack of understanding of the female urethra.

So, where is a woman’s urethra and what does it look like? The doctor told us that the urethral opening is the small hole in the front of the vagina. The female urethral opening is very short, only 2.5-5 cm long, with an average of 3.5 cm, and a diameter of 8 mm. It is easy to expand to 10-13 mm. It has no bends and is located behind the ischial tuberosity in front of the vagina. It starts from the neck of the bladder and goes down and forward to the urethral opening.

Because the urethra and vagina are very close, the vagina is very susceptible to infection and needs to be kept comfortable and clean. There are many causes of urinary tract infection: such as habitual delayed urination, lack of hygiene, low daily water intake, strenuous sexual activity, contraceptive tools, use of vaginal spermicides, etc., which can also change the antibacterial environment of the urethra and surrounding areas, easily causing urinary tract infection.

In addition, some women have anatomical abnormalities in the urethra and vagina, such as urethral hymen umbrella, ruptured hymen, distal urethral obstruction leading to urethra-bladder reflux, and low urethral opening, which are susceptible to environmental pollution and this disease. Therefore, women who are prone to this disease should develop a good lifestyle and go to the hospital for further examination to reduce the incidence.

Female urethral syndrome is a very common disease that mostly affects young women. In mild cases, the main symptom is discomfort in the urethra during urination. In severe cases, there will be symptoms of bladder irritation such as frequent urination, urgency, inability to hold urine, and painful urination. It has the characteristics of appearing suddenly and disappearing quietly, and it can occur frequently and repeatedly, making people feel uncertain and very distressed.

Common causes of urethral syndrome in women include:

1. Reflex stimulation during sexual intercourse, especially during intercourse, plus local hematoma during sexual stimulation, causes swelling of the urethral and vulvar mucosa. These factors lead to continuous muscle spasm of the female urethral opening, as well as obstruction of the normal metabolic function of the glandular ducts around the urethral opening, thus causing urethral syndrome.

2. Unhygienic lifestyle, such as not paying attention to vaginal hygiene or menstrual hygiene, especially not paying attention to sexual hygiene, so that the residual secretions of the vulva mix with the semen to become an irritant, creating conditions for the growth and reproduction of bacteria and invasion of the urethra, thus causing urethral syndrome;

3. Vaginourethral bladder reflux - secretions in the vagina are backflowed into the urethra and bladder. For example, during sexual intercourse or cycling, the pressure in the vagina increases, causing the contents of the vagina to flow back into the urethra and cause irritation. Bacteria will take the opportunity to enter and cause urethral syndrome.

4. The body's resistance is reduced, resulting in the weakening of the resistance of the urethral opening and bladder mucosa, and the local resistance to infection and various irritants is reduced, which is also a factor causing urethral syndrome;

5. Women who usually wear tight polyester underwear have poor air permeability and water absorption of the vulva, and the friction between the private parts and polyester underwear during exercise will also irritate the parts and cause urethral syndrome. In addition, emotional fluctuations, such as anger, sadness, and irritability, can also cause or aggravate women's urethral syndrome.

Therefore, once a woman has a problem with her urethra, she should go to the hospital for treatment immediately. She must not avoid medical treatment, and she must not use drugs indiscriminately. Because female urethral syndrome is caused by non-bacterial infection in many cases, if antibiotics are used at this time, not only will the effect be ineffective, but it will also easily recur, causing great physical and mental pain to the patient.

If a married woman suffers from urethral syndrome, it is because her vulva and genitals are not yet consciously stimulated by daily life. Only with the increase in the frequency of sexual life and the gradual adaptation of the vulva, the related symptoms will gradually ease until they disappear completely. If the female urethral syndrome is caused by wearing tight polyester underwear that irritates the private parts, the problem can only be solved by not wearing such underwear to prevent the private parts from contacting the fiber.

Prevention of urethral syndrome in women:

1. Keep the external vagina clean, including washing the lower body with warm water every day, changing underwear and sanitary napkins frequently, not wearing polyester and acrylic chemical fiber underwear, and using toilet paper to wipe from front to back, etc.;

2. Pay attention to the hygiene of the sexual environment of the couple, clean the vulva before sex, urinate immediately after sex (to remove the residual secretions in the urethra and vulva), and it is best to clean the private parts again;

3. Promptly cure various symptoms that cause female urethral syndrome, such as using antibiotics to treat the adhesions around the urethral opening and the outer membrane of the urethral opening; 4. Maintain a happy mood, avoid emotional anxiety, and exercise regularly to enhance immunity and improve resistance to various stimuli.
