What causes vaginal mucosal damage?

Some women sometimes experience symptoms of vaginal mucosal damage. The vaginal opening and vaginal mucosa of women are very fragile, so vaginal mucosal damage in women is not uncommon. There are many reasons for vaginal mucosal damage, such as drug abuse and too much force in sexual intercourse. If vaginal mucosal damage occurs, the patient will experience severe pain in the vagina and feel very uncomfortable. In severe cases, bleeding symptoms may also occur, which makes the patient very painful. So, what are the causes of vaginal mucosal damage? Let us find out.

① Trauma. This is mainly caused by accidentally straddling objects or being injured by sharp objects that penetrate the vagina. The vaginal mucosa is thin, the blood vessels under the mucosa are very rich, and the tissue is loose. It is very easy to bleed or form hematoma after injury. If the hematoma is large and difficult to stop on its own, emergency medical treatment is required. If it is a penetrating injury, you should also pay attention to whether other adjacent organs are injured, such as the urethra, bladder, rectum, or even pelvic fractures. In this case, vaginal injury is only secondary to severe trauma.

②Sexual intercourse. The injuries vary according to different ages. When young girls are raped, the injuries are generally limited to the external opening of the vagina. When young adults have their first sexual intercourse, lacerations of the hymen sometimes extend to the vaginal mucosa. The most common is the mucosal laceration of the posterior vaginal fornix. This is mostly because the man does not understand the physiological and psychological knowledge of sexual intercourse, does not prepare enough before intercourse, and forces intercourse under dry conditions, or moves too hard in pursuit of the intense sexual sensation when the penis hits the posterior fornix of the vagina, or because the woman takes the female position with her legs spread and raised, the penis is inserted too deeply, or the vagina has become shorter because the entire uterus and nearby vagina have been removed, or the vaginal mucosa is fragile and easily injured due to estrogen deficiency during the postpartum or lactation period, or there are diseases such as vaginal inflammation and dysplasia. These factors can all lead to damage to the vaginal mucosa. If the posterior fornix vaginal laceration is injured, you should go to the hospital immediately for suture. First, there will be a lot of bleeding, and second, the thin peritoneum is further inside, which is very dangerous. The vagina of elderly women is loose, sexual intercourse movements are more stable, and mucosal lacerations are rare. However, due to the lack of estrogen, the elderly have thin and fragile vaginal mucosa and are prone to senile vaginitis, so mucosal abrasions and burning pain are still relatively common.

③Others. Placing corrosive drugs in the vagina, such as alum to treat itching, can also cause mucosal ulceration, inflammation, and adhesion.

After understanding it, we know that vaginal mucosal injury is very common, but if vaginal mucosal injury occurs, you must go to the hospital for timely treatment, do not delay, and you cannot have sexual intercourse during treatment to avoid cross infection and more serious consequences. When gynecological inflammation occurs, you must go to the hospital for treatment and cannot take medicine on your own, because this is likely to cause vaginal mucosal injury.
