Can I still breastfeed if I have a low fever due to mastitis?

We all know that when women suffer from mastitis, they will have a fever. If mastitis causes a fever, then the disease is more serious. This phenomenon may cause many women to have breast abscesses and breast ulcers. There are also many expectant mothers who are breastfeeding their children. They will consider whether they can breastfeed their children after suffering from mastitis. So, can they still breastfeed their children when they have a low fever due to mastitis?

1. Feed your baby frequently and let the baby drink up as much milk as possible from your breasts; 2. Use a breast pump to empty the breasts; 3. Use manual milking techniques 7 to 8 times a day, trying to empty the milk each time; 4. Use the back of an oiled wooden comb to gently massage toward the nipple to unclog the mammary glands; 5. Ask a surgeon to help with massage if necessary. This is the most effective measure to treat early mastitis and prevent further development of inflammation.

Local physical therapy and hot compress of small flowers: You can use Zhoulin spectrum instrument physical therapy or hot compress with hot towel, 20 to 30 minutes each time, 3 to 4 times a day, which is effective for early inflammation.

Xiaohua uses antibiotics: When the above methods are ineffective, penicillin or other antibiotics should be added in time, either by intramuscular injection or intravenous drip.

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment of Xiaohua: There are many external medicine prescriptions or acupuncture therapy in folk Chinese medicine.

If an abscess has formed in your breast, the doctor will perform incision and drainage in time. Of course, this will be done after anesthesia. It is generally not too painful, but it also depends on your cooperation. The specific method of surgical incision and drainage is up to the doctor. Here we might as well understand it so that we can cooperate:

If the pulsation of the deep abscess in Xiaohua's breast is not obvious, that is, it cannot be felt clearly, the doctor will first use ultrasound to locate it, and then use needle puncture to confirm it before drainage. The surgical incision is generally made radially along the direction of the milk duct to avoid damage to the milk duct and cause milk fistula. If there are several abscess cavities, the doctor will separate the spaces between them, drain them adequately, and make several incisions if necessary.

For deep floret abscesses or retromammary abscesses, the doctor will make an arc-shaped incision in the fold under the mammary gland, separate the retromammary space and the pectoral muscle fascia, and directly reach the abscess cavity. This incision facilitates drainage, is less likely to damage the milk ducts, and does not affect the appearance.

Massage the breasts to stimulate milk secretion, then express a little milk to soften the areola.

2. Feed the healthy breast first. If both breasts are cracked, suck the lighter side first. Make sure the baby holds the nipple and most of the areola in his mouth, and change the feeding position frequently to reduce the stimulation to the nipple when sucking hard.

3. There is a method to remove the nipple after feeding. Press the baby's lower jaw lightly with your index finger, and when the baby opens his mouth, take the opportunity to pull out the nipple. Do not pull the nipple out of the baby's mouth abruptly.

4. After each breastfeeding, squeeze out a little milk and apply it on the nipples and areola to keep the nipples dry and allow the protein in the milk to promote the repair of damaged nipples. You can also apply: children's cod liver oil drops, egg yolk oil, vegetable oil, half each of Phellodendron chinense and Angelica dahurica, add sesame oil or honey to make a paste, or a paste made by melting lard and Bletilla striata powder over a low fire.

It is recommended not to breastfeed the child when the child has a fever due to mastitis. Breastfeeding the child will cause the child to have a low fever or a fever. In short, it is very harmful to the child. It is best to breastfeed the child after the mastitis is under control and the fever is gone. If you are afraid to breastfeed the child, you should squeeze out your milk in time. This will improve the mastitis after emptying it.
