Why is vaginal discharge yellow-green after menstruation?

Some women do not pay attention to private hygiene, have frequent and uncontrolled sexual life or have premature sexual intercourse, which causes many women to have abnormal color, amount and odor of leucorrhea. This abnormal phenomenon often indicates that women have a certain disease. Especially after menstruation or sexual intercourse, the color of leucorrhea changes. Below, the editor will find out the causes and treatments based on the different symptoms of abnormal leucorrhea.

1. Yellow-green or yellow-white foamy secretions are common in Trichomonas vaginitis, accompanied by increased vaginal discharge and vulvar itching.

2. Curd-like or bean curd-like secretions are characteristics of candidal vaginosis. In severe cases, the white secretions can completely cover the vaginal wall mucosa, like paint. Patients often experience severe itching or burning pain in the vulva.

3. Grayish white homogeneous secretions are often a manifestation of bacterial vaginitis, and are accompanied by a fishy smell and sometimes vulvar itching.

4. Purulent leucorrhea is yellow or green in color, thick and has a foul odor. It is caused by bacterial infection of the reproductive tract. It is seen in cases of acute vaginitis, cervicitis, pyometra, genital tract lesions and vaginal foreign body infection.

5. Bloody leucorrhea, vaginal discharge mixed with bright red blood, light red in color, the amount can be more or less. Bloody leucorrhea may be caused by cervical polyps, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer or fallopian tube cancer. However, there is no need to panic if there is blood mixed in the leucorrhea, because in almost 80% of the cases, bloody leucorrhea is caused by acute vaginal inflammation or intrauterine contraceptive device.

6. Watery leucorrhea. Large amounts of persistent swill-like vaginal discharge are often seen in cervical adenocarcinoma or vaginal cancer. If clear or yellow-red watery leucorrhea is discharged intermittently, beware of the possibility of fallopian tube cancer.

The above is the relevant knowledge about abnormal leucorrhea after menstruation. Friends with abnormal leucorrhea can refer to the above symptoms for symptomatic treatment. Abnormal leucorrhea can also have an impact on women's pregnancy. It not only causes gynecological inflammation such as vaginitis, but also affects the quality of fertility. It may even cause blockage of the fallopian tubes and ultimately infertility. The editor recommends developing healthy hygiene habits to ensure reproductive health.
