Why is endometritis infertility

Why is endometritis infertility

Endometritis is a common gynecological inflammation, and this disease has a great impact and harm on women. Therefore, female friends must pay attention to their reproductive health in their daily lives. No matter what kind of inflammation occurs, they should receive treatment in time. Here we will introduce to you the adverse effects it has on female fertility.

Endometritis is an inflammation of the lining of the uterus. According to the infecting pathogens, it can be divided into tuberculous and non-tuberculous; according to the length of the course of the disease, it can be divided into acute and chronic. Tuberculous endometritis is caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and is often secondary to fallopian tube tuberculosis. Non-tuberculous endometritis is more common and is caused by infection with general pathogens. It is common during menstruation, abortion and after delivery, such as retained placenta or fetal membranes during delivery, sexual intercourse during menstruation, prolonged uterine bleeding, infection from incomplete abortion, gynecological examinations without strict disinfection, ascending infection from intrauterine operations such as artificial abortion and various vaginal surgeries, ascending infection from cervicitis, vaginitis, infection caused by endometrial polyps or submucosal myoma necrosis, etc.

It has been reported that the incidence of endometritis in infertile women can reach 94% through endometrial biopsy. Common infectious bacteria include Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus aureus and anaerobic bacteria. In addition, there are also pathogens such as gonococci and ureaplasma urealyticum.

When endometritis occurs, there may be lower abdominal distension and pain, lumbar pain, increased leucorrhea, a thin, light yellow color, and sometimes bloody. Menstruation is still regular, but the menstrual blood volume increases and the menstrual period is prolonged. The pain is common in nulliparous women, and there may be fever in the acute phase. The main pathological changes of endometritis are endometrial congestion and edema, large amounts of inflammatory exudates, and infiltration of a large number of plasma cells and lymphocytes in the interstitium. These changes are not conducive to the upward migration of sperm and the implantation and development of fertilized eggs, thus causing infertility.

Endometritis can cause infertility or sterility. The main causes are as follows: ① After the sperm enters the uterine cavity, inflammatory factors such as bacterial toxins and leukocyte phagocytosis cause sperm death or reduced activity, greatly reducing the number of sperm entering the fallopian tube, thereby affecting fertility. ② The fertilized egg is not easy to implant in the inflammatory endometrium, or anti-endometrial antibodies cause implantation disorders, resulting in infertility. ③The fertilized egg is not implanted stably and is very likely to cause miscarriage, thus resulting in infertility.

Through the above introduction, we will find that the occurrence of endometritis will directly threaten women's reproductive health, and it is also the most common cause of infertility nowadays. Therefore, I hope that every female friend can have a comprehensive understanding of these common sense and pay attention to health care in life.
