What is the difference between premenstrual period and early pregnancy?

Women have their periods every month, and there are some signs before the period comes. Sometimes some pregnant women will find that their early pregnancy symptoms are similar to the signs of menstruation. Therefore, many women in life will confuse the two and have no idea whether they are pregnant or having their period. So from a medical point of view, what is the difference between premenstrual period and early pregnancy?

Breast tenderness

Most women experience breast pain and discomfort before menstruation, which gradually improves after menstruation.

After the fertilized egg implants, due to the large amount of hormones secreted in the body, the expectant mother will feel her breasts become soft and there will be a tingling and swollen feeling. The breasts will become larger and the color of the areola will become darker.

Abdominal discomfort

The abdominal distension feeling caused by menstruation and the implantation of the fertilized egg is similar, but the implantation of the fertilized egg is sometimes accompanied by a small amount of bleeding. This is caused by the rupture of blood vessels when the fertilized egg takes root in the endometrium. It is a normal phenomenon.

Taste Changes

Many female friends will have a better appetite before their period and also like to eat some sweets. The taste of expectant mothers will also change within one to two weeks after pregnancy, and they will generally like sour, spicy, sweet and spicy foods.

Menstrual period not coming

After some symptoms appear, menstruation will usually come as scheduled soon. But if your period hasn't come for a week or two, it's relatively clear. You can buy an early pregnancy test or go to the hospital for a blood test.

Changes in basal body temperature

After the fertilized egg implants, the body temperature will rise. If you feel that your body temperature has been maintained for more than ten days after ovulation, then you can preliminarily judge that you have become an expectant mother. There is no such change before menstruation!

Female friends who are preparing to get pregnant should not be too anxious. They should do all the preparations for pregnancy, then let nature take its course, maintain a good mood, and believe that the little angel will definitely come.
