Condiments that cannot be eaten during breastfeeding

During breastfeeding, mothers should avoid eating foods and drinks that are commonly used for seasonings, such as leeks, garlic sprouts, chili peppers, pepper, fennel, and wine. This type of seasoning food and beverage is spicy, warm and dry in nature. Excessive consumption can cause internal heat in the mother, mouth ulcers, constipation or hemorrhoids. In babies, it can cause stomatitis, drooling and other problems after feeding. Therefore, the above spicy foods can be used as seasonings, but you should not eat too much.

Dietary principles during lactation

1. Drink more soup

The first key to lactation is water. In addition to having soup at every meal, breastfeeding mothers must consume at least 2,700 to 3,200 CC of water a day, so boiled water, milk, soy milk, rye juice, etc. can also be supplemented from time to time.

2. Eat more protein foods

In fact, if mothers take a closer look at the so-called milk-producing foods, most of them are rich in protein, so breastfeeding mothers must have enough protein intake. Lean meat, fish, etc. are all good choices. For vegetarian breastfeeding mothers, experts say: "You can choose foods rich in high-quality protein such as soy products, legumes, and nuts, and add ginger or sesame oil when cooking."

3. Avoid eating foods that cause milk withdrawal

Common foods that can stop milk production include: leeks, ginseng, raw malt, barley tea, etc. Moms just need to remember to avoid eating these foods. In addition, raw and cold foods may also cause the mother's milk to dry up, so breastfeeding mothers are best to avoid eating them.
