The difference between amniotic fluid leakage and leucorrhea

There is a big difference between amniotic fluid leakage and leucorrhea. First of all, leucorrhea will not flow out continuously like water. Leucorrhea has a certain viscosity and texture. It feels like a solid jelly liquid, sticky, soft and can be drawn. However, if amniotic fluid leaks, it will cause some pain in the abdomen, and you will feel that water is being discharged little by little, and you cannot move.

1. Physiological leucorrhea

Under normal circumstances, the amount and smell of leucorrhea vary from person to person, and publicity work should be done to eliminate concerns.

2. Pathological leucorrhea

1. Non-inflammatory leucorrhea

Any condition that can cause congestion in the pelvis and uterus can cause the cervical glands and endometrium to overfunction and secrete excessive mucus; at the same time, vaginal mucosal exudation also increases. For example, patients with pelvic tumors, retroflexed uterus, chronic diseases such as heart failure, tuberculosis, diabetes, anemia, and weak women often have more egg white-like secretions or white watery vaginal exudate.

Will the amniotic fluid leak a little bit?

The amniotic fluid will only break before or during childbirth, otherwise the amniotic fluid will not flow out. If the pregnant woman has high-level water rupture, the amniotic fluid may flow out intermittently. When the amniotic fluid breaks, it will all flow out in a very short time. The amniotic fluid is generally clear and transparent. If it is vaginal secretion, it is composed of aging cells of the vaginal wall and normal flora from the vagina.

Normal amniotic fluid and urine look similar and are very clear. If the water breaks, it will flow out uncontrollably. Amniotic fluid is colorless and odorless. When the amniotic fluid flows out, if the amount is large, it will feel warm and clear, which cannot be controlled by humans. When the amount is small, you will always feel a little wet, like urinating, but it is out of your control and is continuous.

However, vaginal secretions will increase in the later stages of pregnancy, which does not necessarily mean that water has broken. Generally, when the water breaks, you will feel a sudden flow of water out of the vagina. When the fetal head descends and blocks the cervical opening, the flow of water will decrease, but some water will still flow out as the pregnant woman moves. Therefore, it is best to go to the hospital and let the doctor check. If it is indeed water breaking, you can't wait any longer and must be hospitalized for delivery. If water breaking is not treated for a long time, it can easily cause uterine infection. Some people's water breaks before their due date.

The role of amniotic fluid

1. During pregnancy, amniotic fluid can alleviate external pressure or impact on the abdomen, preventing the fetus from direct damage.

2. Amniotic fluid can stabilize the temperature in the uterus and prevent it from changing drastically. During the growth and development of the fetus, the fetus can have a space to move around, so the fetus's limb development will not become abnormal or deformed.

3. Amniotic fluid can reduce the mother's feelings or discomfort caused by the fetus's movements in the uterus.

4. There are also some antibacterial substances in amniotic fluid, which play a certain role in reducing infection.

5. During delivery, the amniotic fluid forms a water bag, which can ease the expansion of the cervix.

6. Umbilical cord prolapse can be avoided in breech and foot positions.

7. When the uterus contracts, the amniotic fluid can buffer the pressure of the uterus on the fetus, especially the pressure on the fetal head.

8. After the water breaks, the amniotic fluid has a certain lubricating effect on the birth canal, making it easier for the fetus to be delivered.
