No menstruation after taking estradiol

So, what is the reason for missing menstruation after taking estradiol?

1. Clinical significance

1. Increased height is seen in female precocious puberty, male breast development, pregnancy (especially twins or multiple births), estrogen-secreting tumors, ovulation-inducing drugs (such as chlorpheniramine), male feminization, ovarian tumors, anovulatory uterine bleeding and cirrhosis.

2. Decrease is seen in ovarian tumors, hydatidiform mole, intrauterine fetal death, pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome, hypothalamic tumors, hypopituitarism, ovarian insufficiency, oophorectomy, delayed puberty, primary and secondary amenorrhea, menopause, oral contraceptives, etc.

3. Pathological causes of increased estradiol values ​​1) Ovarian diseases: Ovarian granulosa cell tumor, ovarian embryonal tumor, ovarian fat cell tumor, sex hormone-producing tumor, etc., all show ovarian hyperfunction and increased estradiol secretion. 2) Heart disease: myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, coronary artery stenosis. 3) Others: systemic lupus erythematosus, liver cirrhosis, and male obesity.

4. Pathological causes of decreased estradiol: 1) Ovarian diseases: ovarian absence or hypoplasia, primary ovarian failure, ovarian cysts. 2) Pituitary amenorrhea or infertility. 3) Others: hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, Cushing's syndrome, Addison's disease, malignant tumors, large-scale infection, renal insufficiency, focal lesions of the brain and pituitary gland, etc. can all reduce plasma estradiol.

2. Adverse Reactions

1. Uncommon or rare adverse reactions that should be noted: ① irregular vaginal bleeding, spotting, breakthrough bleeding, prolonged bleeding or amenorrhea; ② drowsiness; ③ frequent urination or painful urination; ④ severe or sudden headache; ⑤ sudden loss of behavioral coordination, involuntary jerky movements (chorea); ⑥ pain in the chest, upper abdomen (stomach), groin or legs, especially gastrocnemius pain, weakness or numbness of the arms or legs; ⑦ shortness of breath, sudden onset, unexplained; ⑧ sudden slurred speech or pronunciation; ⑨ sudden change in vision (retinal hemorrhage or blood clots); ⑩ increased blood pressure; ⑩ small lumps in the breast; ⑩ depression; ⑩ yellowing of the conjunctiva or skin, pay attention to hepatitis or biliary obstruction; ⑩ rash; ⑩ thick white curd-like vaginal discharge (candidiasis).

2. More common, but often reduced after continued medication: ① abdominal cramps or bloating; ② poor appetite; ③ nausea; ④ ankle and foot edema; ⑤ breast tenderness or (and) swelling; ⑥ weight gain or loss. There may be nausea, vomiting, breast swelling, local pain, and endometrial hyperplasia. This product contains ethanol, which is not allergic to the skin, but may cause irritation if it comes into contact with mucous membranes.
