What does inflammatory disease of the cervix mean?

Cervicitis is a relatively common gynecological disease. Most women suffer from cervicitis to a greater or lesser extent. It is mainly an inflammation caused by bacterial infection. Cervicitis is not contagious, but if you suffer from cervicitis, you should not have sexual intercourse. Common symptoms include increased vaginal discharge, abdominal pain and bloating, etc. Pay special attention to personal hygiene. As long as you actively cooperate with the treatment, you will be able to recover quickly.

These questions are often asked by outpatients. It is understood that cervicitis does not constitute a direct infection. To be precise, cervicitis is not directly transmitted through sexual intercourse or indirect contact. However, experts remind that the fact that cervicitis cannot be transmitted through these means does not mean that you don't need to pay attention to it.

Cervicitis is not contagious, and sexual intercourse is not recommended during the illness

In response to patients' questions, there are many types of cervicitis, such as cervical erosion, cervical polyps, and cervical cysts, all of which are chronic inflammations. The most common type of cervicitis is chronic cervicitis, which is more common in multiparous women. It is mostly caused by damage to the cervix due to childbirth, abortion, surgery, or local bacterial infection due to long-term stimulation. It can also be transformed from acute cervicitis. Once you suffer from chronic cervicitis, the main symptom is increased and sticky leucorrhea, which is sometimes purulent. In severe cases, there may also be a feeling of heaviness in the waist and abdomen, which tends to worsen before menstruation, during bowel movements and sexual intercourse. However, cervicitis is generally not contagious. However, the fact that cervicitis cannot be transmitted through these means does not mean that you can ignore it. If cervicitis has not been cured, it is not recommended for patients to have sexual intercourse, as this may aggravate the condition.

Patients with cervicitis should pay more attention to personal hygiene and try not to go to public bathrooms or swimming pools, as these places may cause patients to be infected with other bacteria, leading to worsening inflammation. In order to control the disease, patients should actively take effective measures for treatment.

Cervicitis is not contagious, but it is better to treat it early. More than half of women suffer from cervicitis to varying degrees, and the cure rate for mild cervicitis is very high as long as it is actively treated. Although simply suffering from cervicitis will not pose much of a threat to health, symptoms such as increased vaginal discharge, low back pain, and lower abdominal distension caused by cervicitis often affect people's emotions. From the perspective of cancer prevention, cervicitis is closely related to cervical cancer. Data from cancer prevention surveys show that 0.39% of people without cervical erosion develop cervical cancer, while 2.05% of people with uterine erosion develop cervical cancer. Therefore, actively treating cervicitis and taking active preventive measures against the disease are of great significance to protecting women's health and preventing and treating cervical cancer.
