Can I detect pregnancy after my period is delayed for nine days?

For women, the onset of menarche usually indicates that they have the basic ability to bear children. A normal, mature woman will produce an egg every month, waiting to combine with the male's sperm to achieve successful conception. Once a woman becomes pregnant successfully, she will no longer produce eggs and will no longer have menstrual periods during pregnancy. So, when a woman’s menstruation is delayed for nine days, can she be detected as pregnant?

What's going on if I don't get pregnant after nine days of amenorrhea?

If your period is delayed and you have a history of sexual activity, you should first rule out the possibility of pregnancy. If you use a test strip, it is sometimes inaccurate. It is recommended that you go to the hospital for a blood test to determine whether you are pregnant. If a blood test confirms that you are not pregnant, your situation is considered to be irregular menstruation caused by endocrine disorders. It is recommended that you take a rest, relax, go to the hospital for an ultrasound to check the condition of the endometrium, and consider using progesterone to induce menstruation based on the condition of the endometrium.

What are the methods for detecting pregnancy?

1. Early pregnancy test paper to test pregnancy

This is the most commonly used method. It can be detected at the earliest 7 days after intercourse, usually 18 days, and in some cases more than 20 days. 7 to 10 days after menstruation is to make the test results more accurate. The best time to test is 18 days after intercourse, or 7 to 10 days after the next menstruation.

2. Blood or urine HCG test

Unintended pregnancy can be diagnosed at the earliest. When the fertilized egg is implanted in the uterus, a new hormone called chorionic gonadotropin is produced in the pregnant woman's body, which helps maintain pregnancy. This hormone can be detected in urine about 10 days after conception. An early pregnancy blood test measures the amount of human chorionic gonadotropin in your blood, not your urine. Blood tests can detect very small amounts of hormones, so they can detect pregnancy earlier than urine tests (usually about 6 to 8 days after ovulation).

3. Basal body temperature test method

Use the basal body temperature measurement method to measure your body temperature in bed after waking up every morning. The temperature at this time is called the basal body temperature. Generally, the body temperature is below 36.5 degrees before ovulation. After ovulation, the progesterone level rises and acts on the body temperature center, causing the body temperature to rise by 0.3-0.5 degrees. If the egg cannot be fertilized, the progesterone level will drop after about a week and the body temperature will return to normal; if pregnancy has occurred, the progesterone level will remain high, causing the body temperature to remain high as well. If the high temperature curve phenomenon in the basal body temperature persists for more than 18 days, early pregnancy can generally be confirmed.
