Pelvic effusion is a common disease in women. Patients will experience abdominal pain or back pain. Pelvic effusion is more common in middle-aged women. Women may experience symptoms such as menstrual disorders and infertility. Therefore, patients with pelvic effusion must receive prompt treatment. 1. What happens if pelvic effusion is not treated? 1. Lower abdominal distension, pain on one or both sides of the lower abdomen Chronic inflammation may cause adhesions between internal organs and body cavity walls and pelvic congestion, leading to lower abdominal distension, pain and soreness in the lumbar region. This feeling often worsens after fatigue, sexual intercourse, and before and after menstruation. 2. Decreased immunity The systemic symptoms caused by pelvic effusion are mostly not obvious, and sometimes may include low fever and fatigue. Some people who have been ill for a long time may experience lack of energy, general discomfort, insomnia, etc. When the patient's resistance is poor, pelvic effusion is prone to acute attacks. 3. Menstrual disorders Patients with concurrent pelvic congestion may experience increased menstruation; when ovarian function is impaired, menstrual disorders may occur. 4. Infertility Infertility is the most common symptom of pelvic effusion. If pelvic inflammatory disease causes blockage of the fallopian tubes, infertility may occur. 2. Causes of pelvic effusion (1) Not paying attention to hygiene during menstruation Menstruation is a good time for bacteria to grow. If you do not pay attention to personal hygiene, use unclean sanitary napkins, toilet paper, etc., or have sexual intercourse during menstruation, it provides a good opportunity for bacteria and can easily cause pelvic inflammatory disease, which usually produces some inflammatory fluid. (2) Spread of inflammation to adjacent organs Pelvic inflammatory disease is prone to occur when suffering from appendicitis or peritonitis. When suffering from vaginitis and cervicitis, the inflammation may spread upward and may eventually lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and fluid accumulation. (3) Postpartum and post-abortion infection After childbirth and abortion, immunity is relatively low and the cervix is in a dilated state. If personal hygiene is not taken seriously, bacteria in the vagina and cervix may ascend and cause pelvic infection. (4) Infection after gynecological surgery If the disinfection process is not strict during artificial abortion, IUD insertion (removal), salpingography (hydration), etc., it is easy to get infection after the operation. If you do not pay attention to personal hygiene after surgery, do not follow the doctor's advice for recovery treatment, or have sexual intercourse too early after treatment, it may lead to pelvic infection. |
