Can I smoke during my aunt's visit?

Traditionally, it is believed that only men smoke, but in fact, many women in real life also have the habit of smoking and drinking. But we know that smoking is harmful to health, especially for women who are menstruating, smoking has many side effects. So what are the dangers of smoking for women during menstruation? How should we minimize the harm of cigarettes?

The dangers of smoking

1. Smoking shortens life expectancy: According to some surveys, on average, every cigarette smoked will shorten life expectancy by 11 minutes. Of course, this number may not be accurate, but one thing is certain: non-smokers live longer than smokers.

2. Smoking affects sleep quality: According to a recent survey by German scientists, smokers sleep less than non-smokers and have poorer sleep quality. Among them, nicotine is the main culprit that affects sleep. Poor sleep quality will not only make people in a bad mental state after waking up, but some studies have also shown that if poor sleep quality is habitual, it will also cause health problems such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

3. Smoking affects reproductive function: According to research surveys, the sperm fertilization ability of long-term smokers is reduced by 75% compared with non-smokers. The main culprit is still the nicotine in cigarettes, as sperm can recognize nicotine and react to it. Long-term smoking overloads the nicotine receptors in human sperm, thereby reducing the ability to fertilize.

4. Smoking increases the risk of miscarriage: Pregnant women smoking not only harm their own health, but may also cause harm to the fetus in the belly. The alkali and nicotine contained in cigarettes can cause vascular diseases throughout the body, and the uterine blood vessels are therefore affected. Smoking makes miscarriage more likely in early pregnancy and one of the most dangerous complications of pregnancy - gestational hypertension - occurs in mid-pregnancy.

5. Smoking causes lung diseases: Smoking is one of the main causes of chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic airway obstruction. Smoking can cause changes in the structure and function of the central and peripheral airways, alveoli and capillaries, and affect the lung's immune system, leading to the occurrence of lung diseases.

6. Smoking induces cardiovascular diseases: Smoking not only induces lung diseases, but also cardiovascular diseases. Studies have shown that the incidence of coronary heart disease, hypertension, cerebrovascular disease and peripheral vascular disease in smokers is significantly higher than that in non-smokers. The pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease induced by smoking is mainly that smoking causes endothelial dysfunction, increased thrombosis, enhanced inflammatory response and oxidative modification.

Smoking is harmful to health. Please consider it seriously, realize the harm, and actively quit smoking.

According to a survey by the World Health Organization, among one quarter of cancer patients in industrially developed countries, 90% are smokers; 75% of those who die from bronchitis are smokers; and 25% of those who die from myocardial infarction are smokers. Smoking not only harms the individual, but also affects the health of their children. At the same time, tobacco is more likely to affect physiology, causing symptoms such as menstrual disorders, miscarriage, and early menopause, and can make postmenopausal osteoporosis symptoms more severe.

It is best not to smoke during menstruation, eat more vegetables, fruits, chicken, fish, and eat small meals frequently.
