What is the reason for the increase of leucorrhea like egg white?

Everyone knows that leucorrhea is the secretion from the female vagina. Under normal circumstances, the color of leucorrhea should be white, as sticky as egg white, without any smell and in small amount. When a woman's body changes, her vaginal discharge will also show some abnormal phenomena, so in many cases, looking at the vaginal discharge can tell the health status of a woman.

About Leucorrhea

1. Vaginal discharge is a mixture of vaginal mucosal exudate, cervical glands and endometrial gland secretions, containing vaginal epithelial exfoliated cells, white blood cells and some non-pathogenic bacteria. Under normal circumstances, the quality and quantity of vaginal discharge changes with the menstrual cycle. After the menstruation is over, the vaginal discharge is small in amount, white or light yellow in color, and pasty.

2. In the middle of the menstrual cycle, when the ovaries are about to ovulate, due to the vigorous secretion of the cervical glands, the leucorrhea increases and becomes transparent and slightly sticky like egg white. 2 to 3 days after ovulation, vaginal discharge becomes turbid, thick and less in quantity. Before and after menstruation, due to pelvic congestion, vaginal mucosal exudate increases and leucorrhea often increases. If there are abnormal changes in the color, quality, and quantity of leucorrhea, it is called abnormal leucorrhea.

There is always a reason for abnormal leucorrhea, and different diseases cause different abnormal leucorrhea:

1. Colorless, transparent or light yellow mucous leucorrhea:

The appearance is similar to normal leucorrhea during ovulation, but the amount is larger. It is common after the use of estrogen drugs.

2. Purulent leucorrhea:

It is yellow or yellow-green in color and has a foul odor. Caused by infection, it is common in vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis, chronic cervicitis, endometritis, etc.

3. Tofu-like leucorrhea:

It is a characteristic of fungal vaginitis.

4. Bloody leucorrhea:

If the leucorrhea is stained with blood, you should be alert to malignant tumors such as cervical cancer and uterine cancer. However, benign lesions such as senile vaginitis, cervical polyps, severe chronic cervicitis, intrauterine contraceptive devices, submucosal uterine fibroids, etc. may also have this symptom.

5. Purulent and bloody leucorrhea:

It is characteristic of amebic vaginitis.

6. Yellow watery leucorrhea:

7. It is mostly caused by necrosis of diseased tissue, and is common in submucosal uterine fibroids, cervical cancer, fallopian tube cancer, etc.

The formation of leucorrhea is closely related to estrogen, so pre-pubertal girls generally do not have leucorrhea. After puberty, the ovaries begin to develop and secrete estrogen to promote the development of the reproductive organs, and leucorrhea begins to appear at this time. During each menstrual cycle, the quality and quantity of leucorrhea changes as the secretion of estrogen varies.

Generally, the secretion of estrogen reaches its peak between two menstrual periods (equivalent to the ovulation period). Excessive estrogen stimulates the cervical glands to secrete more mucus, so the leucorrhea at this time is abundant, transparent or a little yellow, sticky like egg white and can be pulled into threads, and the vulva feels moist. After the ovulation of the follicle, progesterone increases and inhibits the secretion of cervical mucus. At this time, the leucorrhea is less in amount and thicker. In the few days before and after menstruation, due to pelvic congestion, vaginal exudate increases, and leucorrhea also increases slightly. Because it contains more exfoliated cells, the leucorrhea is turbid. In addition, the amount of vaginal discharge also increases after pregnancy, during sexual excitement, and after sexual intercourse.
