What are the effects of short menstrual cycles?

A short menstrual cycle is generally one of the symptoms of irregular menstruation. Among them, the impact of a short menstrual cycle on the human body is also great. The short menstrual cycle in women is mostly related to endocrine dysfunction. That is, when the patient's body has abnormalities, it may cause a short menstrual cycle.

1. Caused by neuroendocrine dysfunction: mainly due to unstable or defective function of the lower hindbrain-stomach-ovary axis, that is, menstrual disease.

2. Caused by organic diseases or drugs, including local inflammation, tumors and developmental abnormalities of the reproductive organs, malnutrition; intracranial diseases; other endocrine dysfunctions such as thyroid and adrenal cortex dysfunction, diabetes, Sheehan's disease, etc.; liver diseases; blood diseases, etc. Menstrual irregularities may occur in women who use drugs to treat mental illnesses, endocrine preparations, or intrauterine devices for contraception. Certain occupations, such as long-distance runners, are prone to amenorrhea. In addition, some abnormal bleeding during pregnancy is often mistaken for menstrual irregularities. The normal menstrual cycle of women is generally 28-30 days. The length of the cycle varies from person to person, but a menstrual cycle shorter than 21 days should be considered an abnormal short menstrual cycle.

3. No effect on pregnancy: The length of the menstrual cycle has no effect on pregnancy, unless the cycle is irregular, which will make it difficult to predict the ovulation period. As long as you can determine the day of ovulation each month, the length of the menstrual cycle will not have a negative impact on pregnancy.

The average menstrual cycle is 28 days. If you count the day of your menstrual period as the first day, you will generally ovulate about two weeks before your next menstrual period. Your menstrual cycle doesn't have to be exactly 28 days, but if your cycle is irregular or you have fewer than six normal periods per year, there's a problem.
