When is the best time for curettage?

When is the best time for curettage?

The so-called curettage is to scrape out some contents of the endometrium. Curettage is a minor gynecological surgery and is of course also an artificial abortion surgery. This surgical operation is risky and may lead to certain complications. After the curettage, you must get enough rest and strengthen your body nutrition. You must rest in bed for at least 2 to 3 days before you can get out of bed.

The doctor said that the best time for a curettage is generally based on the duration of the pregnancy, as the fetus becomes larger. At this time, the cervix must be dilated to its maximum limit in order to scrape out the fetus, so scraping the uterus becomes more difficult. At the same time, the longer the pregnancy lasts, the softer the uterus will become, and the chance of perforating the uterus during surgery will naturally increase. Therefore, generally speaking, curettage can only be used to scrape out the fetus within three months of pregnancy, and it is not advisable to use curettage after three months.

You should rest in the hospital for half an hour to one hour after the curettage. If you are in good health and have no other special discomfort during the rest period, you can leave the hospital. Precautions after curettage: Abdominal pain occurs due to uterine contraction after the operation, which usually lasts for about half an hour to an hour and then is relieved. If you experience severe abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding with large blood clots, and high fever after a few hours or days, please go to the hospital immediately.

After the curettage, you must pay attention to keeping the vulva clean. You should stop having sex after the curettage because the cervix is often not completely healed and the endometrium is still repairing itself. During this period, you must pay attention to vaginal hygiene. You cannot take a bath in a tub for about half a month after the curettage. You should actively prevent and treat bacterial or fungal infections. You should also pay attention to bleeding after the curettage.
