Is it normal for the placenta to be on the right side of the uterus?

My wife's pregnancy is undoubtedly great news for the family. But from pregnancy to the birth of the baby, careful care is required. Generally speaking, pregnant women should go to the hospital for regular prenatal check-ups, which is not only to check the mother's physical condition, but more importantly to check the growth of the fetus in the womb. However, some expectant mothers encounter some problems during the physical examination. The prenatal examination results show that the placenta is located on the right wall of the uterus. Is it normal for the placenta to be located on the right wall of the uterus? This has become a concern for many expectant mothers.

The placenta is an organ formed by the combination of the embryonic membrane and the maternal endometrium during human pregnancy, which exchanges substances between mother and child. The fetus develops in the uterus and relies on the placenta to obtain nutrition from the mother, while both maintain a considerable degree of independence. The placenta also synthesizes a variety of hormones, enzymes, cytokines, etc. to maintain normal pregnancy. Placenta is also a traditional Chinese medicine, called Ziheche

At 3 months of pregnancy (13 weeks after menstruation), the fundus of the uterus can be felt 2-3 fingers above the pubic bone; at 4 months of pregnancy (17 weeks after menstruation), the fundus of the uterus is located between the umbilicus and the pubic bone; at 5 months of pregnancy (21 weeks after menstruation), the fundus of the uterus is level with the umbilicus, and the bulge of the abdomen can be seen from the outside; at 31 weeks of pregnancy, the fundus of the uterus is between the umbilicus and the xiphoid process of the sternum; at full term, the fundus of the uterus is 2-3 fingers below the xiphoid process; when the fetal head enters the pelvis, the fundus of the uterus can be lowered

Under normal circumstances, the placenta is attached to the posterior wall, anterior wall or side wall of the uterine body. If the placenta is attached to the lower segment of the uterus, or even the lower edge of the placenta reaches or covers the internal os of the cervix, and its position is lower than the presenting part of the fetus, it is called placenta previa. It is normal for the placenta to be located on the right side wall of the uterus. The placenta can be located on the side wall, front wall, back wall, and bottom of the uterus. As long as its lower edge does not cover the internal cervical os, it is normal.

In fact, the placenta being located on the right side of the uterus does not seem to be a big problem, but expectant mothers should try to sleep on their left side, as this is said to be beneficial to the development of the fetus. Is it normal for the placenta to be located on the right side of the uterus? There seems to be no clear answer to this question, but expectant mothers should still have regular prenatal checkups, do adequate prenatal preparations, and wait for the baby to arrive.
