Is gonococcal vaginitis easy to treat?

The occurrence of vaginitis is just like the common cold. Many women suffer from the disease and it recurs repeatedly. Therefore it is also called a stubborn disease. Therefore, many patients ask whether gonococcal vaginitis is easy to treat? In fact, the treatment of the disease is very simple, and post-treatment care and prevention are more important to prevent recurrence of the disease. To do this, we must master the treatment methods of the disease in order to more effectively control the disease and achieve a cure.

1. Treatment principles

For gonorrhea, the following principles should be followed for treatment.

(1) Early diagnosis and timely treatment: First of all, the diagnosis should be established as soon as possible after the onset of the disease, and treatment should not be arbitrarily initiated before the diagnosis is confirmed. Secondly, after the diagnosis is confirmed, treatment should be started immediately without hesitation and the opportunity should not be missed.

(2) Determine the clinical type: whether it is a simple type, a type with complications, or a disseminated type. Clinical classification is extremely important for correctly guiding treatment.

(3) Determine whether there is drug resistance: Determine whether the patient is resistant to penicillin, tetracycline, etc. This will also help to correctly guide treatment.

(4) Determine whether there is concurrent chlamydia or mycoplasma infection: If there is concurrent chlamydia or mycoplasma infection, a combined chemotherapy regimen should be formulated for treatment.

(5) Correct, adequate, regular, and comprehensive treatment: The drug that is most sensitive to gonococci should be selected for treatment, and drug sensitivity tests, allergy tests, or β-lactamase assays should be performed whenever possible. The dosage should be sufficient, the course of treatment should be regular, and the method of medication should be correct. Various effective methods should be selected for comprehensive treatment.

(6) Strictly evaluate the efficacy and conduct follow-up observation: The cure standard should be strictly followed and the efficacy evaluation should be adhered to. Only when the cure criteria are met can it be considered cured to prevent recurrence. Those who are cured should insist on regular check-ups and be observed for a sufficiently long period of time.

(7) Examine and treat their sexual partners at the same time: The patient’s spouse or sexual partner should be examined and treated at the same time.

2. General treatment

(1) Sexual isolation: sexual intercourse is prohibited.

(2) Rest: STD patients with high fever and serious complications should rest appropriately and should rest in bed if necessary.

(3) Maintain the necessary balance of water, electrolytes, and carbohydrates, and supplement high-sugar, high-protein diet.

(4) Use Jiaoyan Vaginal Cleansing Liquid to clean or irrigate the vulva to disinfect and inhibit bacteria.

3. Systemic therapy

There are many drugs for treating gonorrhea, but they should be selected based on the principles of high efficiency, safety and affordable price.

① Penicillins: They kill bacteria by destroying bacterial wall synthesis. This type of drug is suitable for treating gonorrhea caused by non-penicillinase-resistant gonococci (PPNG) and is the "standard treatment" for this disease. However, it is inappropriate to use it as a routine treatment without performing drug sensitivity testing before treatment. When the prevalence of PPNG strains is greater than 5%, penicillin treatment should not be used, but other preparations should be selected. The purpose of taking probenecid is to slow down the excretion of penicillin from the kidneys, reduce its binding to plasma proteins, increase blood levels, and prolong its half-life so as to fully exert its antibacterial effect.

②β-lactamase inhibitors: The reason why PPNG strains are resistant to penicillin and some cephalosporins is mainly due to the production of β-lactamase. Clavulanic acid and penicillin sulfone are compounds with very weak antibacterial activity. When used in combination with antibiotics containing a β-lactam ring, they can inhibit the growth of PPNG strains by inhibiting β-lactamase and protecting the antibiotics from destruction, but they do not play a significant role in non-PPNG strains. The pharmacokinetic characteristics of clavulanic acid and penicillin sulfone are similar to those of amoxicillin (hydroxyampicillin) and ampicillin (ampicillin), respectively, and each is suitable for combined use with the latter.

Is gonococcal vaginitis easy to treat? After reading the content of the article, we found that it is very easy to treat. There are many ways to treat the disease, but effective treatment should be formulated according to the patient's condition so that the treatment will be more timely. Patients should maintain good hygiene during treatment and avoid having sex, otherwise they may be reinfected with the bacteria. If the disease is transmitted to their partner, the harm caused will increase. If cross infection occurs, the treatment will be more complicated, and patients are advised to receive thorough treatment for the disease.
