Treatment of postpartum vaginal candidiasis

Vaginal candidiasis is a stubborn disease. If it is not treated thoroughly, it will recur repeatedly. The latent period of fungi is relatively long. After a mother has gone through so much trouble to give birth to a baby, she develops candidal vaginitis. This is bad news for the mother. What should she do about postpartum candidal vaginitis? What is the treatment? This is a question that mothers are concerned about. The following article will give us a detailed introduction to the treatment methods of postpartum fungal vaginitis.

Treatment of candidal vaginitis can be done with either Western medicine alone or a combination of Chinese and Western medicine.

(1) General treatment: Actively treat other diseases that may cause candidal vaginitis and eliminate susceptible factors. Keep the vulva clean and dry and avoid scratching. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during treatment. It is not advisable to eat spicy and irritating foods.

(2) Changing the pH value of the vagina: The most suitable pH value for the growth of Candida is 55. Therefore, using alkaline solutions to flush the vulva and vagina can change the pH value of the vagina and inhibit the growth and reproduction of fungi. You can use 2% or 4% baking soda water to flush the vagina 1 to 2 times a day, and one course of treatment is 2 weeks. After flushing, wipe the vulva dry and keep it dry to inhibit the growth of Candida.

(3) Vaginal medication: Using imidazole suppositories for vaginal medication has a good effect on candidal vaginitis. Take 1 clotrimazole suppository every night and insert it into the vagina after flushing. 10-14 days is a course of treatment; or take 1 Daktarin suppository every night and insert it into the vagina after flushing. 7 days is a course of treatment.

(6) Treatment with Chinese herbal medicine: Use Chinese herbal decoctions that have the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, killing insects and relieving itching to fumigate and wash the vulva, which can not only relieve symptoms but also inhibit and eliminate Candida albicans. Since the patient's vulvar itching, pain and burning symptoms are significantly alleviated after fumigation, it is more suitable for women with acute candidal vaginitis and can relieve the patient's pain. In addition, Chinese herbal medicines can be made into powders or suppositories and applied vaginally.

Prescription ①: 30 grams of Dictamni Cortex, 30 grams of Phellodendron Amurense, 30 grams of Sophora flavescens, 30 grams of Cnidium monnieri, and 3 grams of Borneol. Wrap the medicine in white cloth, boil and extract 2000 ml of juice, steam the vulva while it is still hot, wait until the liquid cools down and then sit in bath for 20 minutes, 1 to 2 times a day. Take out the medicine bag and dry it before fumigation. It can be used again. One course of treatment is 7 days. After soaking and washing, insert 1 clotrimazole suppository or dacrylin suppository into the vagina and apply the above ointment to the vulva.

Prescription ② (Selected Practical Prescriptions for Skin Diseases and Venereology): 12 grams of cloves, 30 grams of patchouli, 15 grams of coptis chinensis, 30 grams of rhubarb, 20 grams of gentian, 15 grams of alum, 15 grams of mint, and 1 gram of borneol. This prescription clears away heat and dampness, kills insects and relieves itching, and has a strong inhibitory and killing effect on Candida albicans and other superficial skin fungi as well as gonorrhea. Usage: 1 dose per day, decoct in water and use for external washing and soaking of the vulva 1-2 times, 30 minutes each time. It can also be made into external lotion and external cream for external use. Married women can flush the vagina once a day with the liquid medicine. Continuous medication for 12 days constitutes a course of treatment.

I believe you are already very clear about the treatment methods for postpartum fungal vaginitis. After applying the above methods for treatment, the patient's clinical symptoms will improve quickly, but this does not mean that the candidal vaginitis has been cured. The patient should insist on completing the course of treatment, and then go to the hospital to recheck the symptoms, undergo a gynecological examination and test the vaginal secretions.
