What should you pay attention to during pregnancy?

In fact, in order to nurture the fetus in the belly, expectant mothers will feel mentally tense. And when we face many physiological changes in our bodies that are different from before, we tend to be more worried. Some pregnant women even have dreams about losing their fetuses and become very nervous. This is actually normal; however, there are some things that you should not do during pregnancy. So what should we pay attention to?

Pregnant women should be careful to avoid fetal malformations caused by eating potato chips. Americans believe that they can get all the nutrients the human body needs by eating only whole milk powder and potatoes for every meal. Potato protein contains 18 amino acids needed by the human body and is a high-quality protein. The mucin contained in it can prevent cardiovascular diseases. The vitamin B1 content in potatoes is also the highest among commonly eaten vegetables.

However, eating sprouted or rotten potatoes can cause human poisoning. Why is this happening? It turns out that potatoes contain a toxin called solanine, and solanine is more concentrated in the sprouting, greening and rotten parts. Some people have determined that the solanine content in each kilogram of potato sprouts can be as high as 5,200 mg, which is 60 to 65 times higher than that in potato cubes.

After solanine is absorbed into the blood, it has a hemolytic effect. It can also paralyze the motor and respiratory centers, irritate the gastric mucosa, and eventually cause death due to paralysis of the respiratory center. In addition, the structure of solanine is similar to human steroid hormones such as androgens, estrogens, progestins and other sex hormones. If pregnant women eat potatoes containing high amounts of bioalkali for a long time, the bioalkali can be accumulated in their bodies and cause fetal anomalies. Some people have estimated that pregnant women with a certain genetic tendency and sensitivity to bioalkali may give birth to deformed babies if they eat 44.2 to 252 grams of potatoes. Moreover, the bioalkali content in potatoes cannot be reduced by conventional cooking methods such as soaking, steaming, and boiling. In view of this, it is better for pregnant women not to eat or eat less potatoes.

To sum up, you should pay attention to your diet during pregnancy. Moreover, pregnant women like to eat potato chips sold in the market during pregnancy, but this is wrong. If eaten in moderation, it can often stimulate the appetite. However, eating too much will not only cause obesity, but also make you more likely to suffer from pregnancy-induced hypertension.
