What causes vulvar itching, redness and swelling?

Generally speaking, itching and redness of the female vulva is a common gynecological disease, which is usually caused by gynecological inflammation, but there are many other reasons that can lead to this condition. It is difficult to generalize the cause. Once this symptom occurs, it often makes people restless and seriously affects the normal life and work of female friends. Below I have compiled some information about this disease.

1. Local causes

(I) Special infections

Vaginitis

Vulvitis

Cervical infection

Other infections: gonorrhea, nongonococcal urethritis, nonspecific urethritis

(ii) Chronic vulvar dystrophy is characterized by severe itching, accompanied by whitening of the vulvar skin.

(3) Drug allergy or chemical irritation.

(IV) Bad hygiene habits and not paying attention to the local cleanliness of the vulva.

(V) Other skin lesions, abrasions, common warts, herpes, eczema, and tumors can all cause vulvar itching.

(6) Vulvar tumors.

2. Systemic causes

(1) Diabetes: Due to the irritation of diabetes to the vulvar skin, especially when accompanied by fungal vulvitis, vulvar itching is particularly severe. Many patients first seek medical attention due to itching and redness of the vulva, and are diagnosed with diabetes only after further examination.

(ii) When patients with chronic diseases such as jaundice, vitamin A deficiency, anemia, leukemia, etc. experience vulvar itching, it is often part of general itching.

(3) Vulvar congestion during pregnancy and premenstrual period may occasionally cause vulvar itching and discomfort.

(IV) Unexplained vulvar pruritus Some patients have very severe vulvar pruritus, but no obvious systemic or local cause can be found. Some people currently believe that it may be related to mental or psychological factors.

If you want to know why you have discomfort in your vulva, please go to the hospital for medical treatment in time. Don't ignore it just because the symptoms are not obvious, or go to the pharmacy to buy medicine on your own. Don't scratch it with your hands, as this may aggravate the condition. In daily life, we should pay attention to maintenance, hygiene, and healthy relationships between the sexes. In addition, when having sex with your sexual partner, both parties should pay attention to hygiene to avoid causing unnecessary trouble to themselves.
