What should a girl do if she has abdominal pain during menstruation?

For women during adolescence, after their first menarche, it means that their femininity is becoming more and more obvious. Many inexperienced women, after their menarche, find that they have some lower abdominal pain during their menstruation. Lower abdominal pain is sometimes a normal menstrual phenomenon. Many women think that this symptom is dysmenorrhea, but there is actually a certain difference.

Generally speaking, adolescent girls will experience slight abdominal pain, back pain, or feel a little sleepy during menstruation after their menarche. These are normal physiological reactions. However, if the pain is unbearable, your face turns pale, your hands and feet are cold, and you experience nausea and vomiting, it is medically known as "dysmenorrhea" and you should go to the hospital to find out the cause of the dysmenorrhea in time.

Generally speaking, in the 1 to 2 years after the first menstruation, dysmenorrhea may occur because the uterus has not yet developed well, or the cervical canal is narrow so that menstrual blood cannot flow out smoothly, or the uterus is in an abnormal position or the uterus contracts too strongly during menstruation. Some girls become nervous and afraid of stomach pain when their period is about to come, which results in dysmenorrhea. There are also genetic factors. For example, if the mother has dysmenorrhea, the daughter will also have dysmenorrhea.

Once dysmenorrhea occurs, you should pay attention to exercise, strengthen your physical fitness, live a regular life, combine work and rest, strengthen nutrition, and ensure adequate sleep; pay attention to keeping warm during menstruation, do not do strenuous exercise, do not take cold baths or swim; eliminate the fear of menstruation and relax. When dysmenorrhea occurs, you can apply a hot water bottle to your abdomen, drink some brown sugar ginger water, or take appropriate painkillers. If you have severe dysmenorrhea, you must go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment.

If dysmenorrhea is not treated in time, it will bring many harms. Not only will there be severe pain, but you may also miss the opportunity to check for other gynecological diseases hidden in the fetus' body. It may also affect future fertility and even cause infertility in women. This needs to be taken seriously.
