What tests are needed for vaginal bleeding?

Except during menstruation, abnormal vaginal bleeding is a serious problem for women. Although the bleeding will stop on its own, irregular bleeding may cause serious lesions. Therefore, timely relevant inspections cannot be ignored, but what specific inspections are needed? Don’t worry too much about it, the editor has collected all the necessary inspection items for you, come and have a look.

After the patient becomes ill, the medical history should be properly examined first. The doctor should pay attention to the patient's age when asking questions, because age is important in identifying vaginal bleeding. Newborn girls have a small amount of vaginal bleeding a few days after birth. This is because the sudden drop in estrogen from the mother causes withdrawal bleeding, which usually stops on its own within a few days.

After that, a physical examination is performed, which needs to consider the overall condition, whether there is anemia, bleeding tendency, lymphadenopathy and thyroid enlargement, etc. During gynecological examination, the vagina and cervix should be carefully inspected to note the source of bleeding; during bimanual and triple examinations, attention should be paid to the size, hardness, and smoothness of the uterus, whether there is cervical lifting pain, and whether there are lumps or tenderness on either side of the uterus. For unmarried patients, only anal examination is generally performed, but when there is a high suspicion of a tumor, a vaginal examination should also be performed.

It can also be diagnosed through conventional methods. Patients should undergo routine blood and leucorrhea examinations, and coagulation function tests when necessary. Mainly, some special examinations should be performed according to needs. Or with the help of some instruments, such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, colposcopy, ultrasound, hysterosalpingography and pelvic CT examination, the patient's specific pathological condition can be clearly and accurately determined.

After reading this, patients should be clear about which examination items are useful. However, the editor reminds everyone that examination alone is not enough. After the diagnosis is confirmed, timely treatment must be received. At the same time, attention should be paid to changing underwear frequently and not having sexual intercourse for the time being. This kind of cooperation is beneficial to the recovery of the vagina to normal.
