What does threatened labor mean?

Before normal delivery starts, pregnant women may experience some symptoms, indicating that delivery is about to begin, which is called threatened labor. If there are signs of labor, the pregnant woman will start preparing to go to the hospital for delivery. Threatened labor includes:

1. Feeling of the fetus descending. At this time, the pregnant woman breathes more happily than before, the upper abdomen is more comfortable than before, and the appetite increases. Because the fetal head position is lowered and the pelvis and bladder are compressed, pregnant women often experience increased urination.

2. False labor Before the start of labor, pregnant women often experience "false labor" of varying lengths. Its characteristics are: the time interval between uterine contractions is irregular; the attention is not great, only a mild distending pain in the lower abdomen is felt, which often occurs at night and disappears in the morning; the duration is short and unstable, usually not exceeding 30 seconds.

3. Spotting during pregnancy When approaching delivery, some pregnant women may have a small amount of pink secretions discharged from the vagina, which is called spotting during pregnancy. Sometimes, mucus plugs may also be discharged at the same time. Spotting during pregnancy is a reliable sign that labor is about to begin. Most pregnant women go into labor within 24-48 hours. The amount of bleeding during pregnancy is very small. If it exceeds the menstrual volume, you should consider whether there is bleeding in late pregnancy such as placenta previa.

4. When the amniotic fluid breaks, a lot of fluid will be discharged from the vagina, which cannot be controlled. After the amniotic fluid breaks, the umbilical cord is prone to prolapse, which seriously endangers the life of the fetus. Pregnant women should lie flat and go to the hospital immediately.

If there are regular and gradually increasing uterine contractions, usually every 5-6 minutes, lasting 30 seconds or more, accompanied by special dilation of the cervix and lowering of the presenting part, this indicates the beginning of labor. At this time, pregnant women should go to the hospital for delivery immediately.

The symptoms of threatened abortion are small amount of vaginal bleeding in the early stage of pregnancy (within 3 months), which may be accompanied by lower abdominal pain, but no tissue is discharged. After general medical treatment and bed rest, sexual intercourse is strictly prohibited and unnecessary gynecological examinations are avoided as much as possible. Most pregnant women can safely pass through the pregnancy period. Don't believe that using Chinese medicinal herbs to nourish the fetus will make your baby's skin rough. When threatened miscarriage occurs, if you do not actively and proactively regulate your condition, the fetus will not be preserved successfully. In the long run, it may lead to habitual miscarriage, which will cause the adverse effect of infertility.
