What is the reason for the 34th week placenta maturity level 2

Nowadays, many pregnant women will go for physical examinations, because physical examinations can help them understand the condition of the fetus at any time. Recently, many women have said that they do not understand what placental maturity is, but every time they have a physical examination, the words placental maturity will appear on the physical examination report. So today we will introduce to you what placental maturity means. Let’s take a look at it together below.

The placenta is an accessory structure that connects the mother and the baby and is the source of the baby's life. It attaches to the uterus and receives nutrients and oxygen for the baby inside. As the gestational age increases, the placenta will change from new to old, which is called placental maturity. In medicine, four grades are usually used to determine the level of placental maturity.

There are four levels of placental maturity: 0, 1, 2, and 3. Grade 1 means the placenta is basically formed; Grade 2 means the placenta is mature; Grade 3 means the placenta is aged. Due to calcification and cellulose deposition, the placenta's ability to transport oxygen and nutrients is reduced, and the fetus is in danger at any time.

Everyone's situation is different. Placenta: mid-pregnancy (12-28 weeks) - placenta grade 0; late pregnancy (30-32 weeks) - placenta I; after 36 weeks - placenta grade II (relatively mature). If a grade III placenta is found before 37 weeks and combined with the value of the biparietal diameter and the estimated fetal weight of 2500 grams, placental precocity should be considered and the patient should be alert to the possibility of intrauterine growth retardation. At 38 weeks, the placenta enters grade III, marking placental maturity.

The more mature the placenta is, the better it is. It is good to have a placenta of appropriate maturity according to your stage of pregnancy, because the placenta is the key to supplying nutrition to the fetus. A prematurely mature placenta means that the placenta ages quickly, which can easily lead to insufficient oxygen supply to the fetus and even cause delayed growth and development of the fetus. By the end of pregnancy, the placenta is basically mature. If the placenta is found to have entered stage 3 before 37 weeks of pregnancy, and combined with the value of the biparietal diameter and the estimated fetal weight of 2500 grams, the expectant mother should be alert to precocious placenta. The maturity of the placenta is detected by B-ultrasound. During the test, the doctor judges by the irregular strong echoes and acoustic shadows in the placenta. The results of the examination may vary from doctor to doctor. The test results will be marked on the ultrasound report.

The placenta will gradually mature as the pregnancy progresses. When it matures to a certain degree, its function will decline, just like aging, and it will be unable to provide nutrition and oxygen to the fetus normally. The placental maturity grade is a standard used to measure the degree of placental maturity.

The above is some common knowledge about placental maturity introduced to us by professionals, so women who still don’t understand can refer to the content above. We can pay attention to the maturity of our placenta during physical examinations, so that we can analyze the baby’s growth and health status. I hope the above content can help you.
