Is 0.8cm of endometrium normal?

The female uterine cavity has an important responsibility, and all life is conceived in this place. Therefore, if there is an abnormality in the uterus, women will still be very worried. A typical situation is the abnormal thickness of the endometrium. Many women are found to have an endometrium of 0.8cm. Endometrium, is 0.8cm of endometrium normal? Let’s take a closer look at it below.

The thickness of a woman's endometrium changes continuously with her menstrual cycle. The endometrium undergoes cyclical changes under the influence of ovarian hormones, necrotizing and shedding during menstruation, and then regenerating.

Taking a menstrual cycle as an example, the cyclical changes of the endometrium can be divided into three phases:

1. Proliferative phase: that is, the 5th to 14th day of the menstrual cycle, which is equivalent to the stage of follicle development and maturation. Endometrial glandular and stromal cells are in a proliferative state. During this period, the endometrium is relatively thin, only 1 to 5 mm.

2. Secretory phase: After the corpus luteum is formed, the endometrium shows a secretory reaction under the action of progesterone. The thickness of the endometrium is about 5 to 6 mm.

3. Menstrual period: Day 1 to 4 of the menstrual cycle. At this time, the levels of estrogen and progesterone decrease, activating the synthesis of prostaglandins in the endometrium. Prostaglandins can stimulate the contraction of the uterine muscle layer and cause continuous spasm of the spiral arterioles in the functional layer of the endometrium, resulting in a decrease in endometrial blood flow. The thickness of the endometrium can reach 8-10mm.

The above is an introduction to whether 0.8cm of endometrium is normal. I hope it will be helpful for women to understand. The thickness of women's endometrium is different. It changes according to the differences in different women's bodies and shows a certain periodicity. As long as we are clear about this issue, we should provide timely and effective treatment when endometrial abnormalities occur.
