What are the symptoms of high prolactin?

Nowadays, infertility troubles many women. There are many reasons for female infertility, and high prolactin is one of them. When a woman secretes too much prolactin, it not only means that there is an abnormality in her endocrine system, but also means that her conception is affected. Once the hormone secretion in a woman's body is affected, her reproductive organs will also be in a sub-healthy state, and her conception will naturally be affected. Experts point out that usually in clinical practice, the symptoms of high prolactin are:

First, osteopenia:

Under normal circumstances, the function of the ovarian axis is to balance the hormone secretion of the female body. Sometimes, a long-term drop in estrogen levels can cause a decrease in density in the body.

Second, milk leakage:

If this phenomenon occurs, milk will be seen coming out when squeezing both breasts. Under the illumination of a magnifying glass, fat droplets can also be seen. Sometimes, in non-tumor types, the percentage is around 20%, while in tumor types, the percentage is around 70%.

Third, irregular menstruation:

Normally, high levels of prolactin in the body will cause irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, secondary amenorrhea, and infrequent menstruation. If it is due to ovulation disorders and corpus luteum insufficiency, it will mostly manifest as scanty menstruation or amenorrhea. The estrogen level in the body is excessively reduced, which makes it impossible for women to conceive normally.

Fourth, female infertility:

Excessive prolactin may affect a woman's normal conception. This is because the body's LH pulse secretion decreases until it disappears. The female hormone before ovulation will cause a peak in the LH value, resulting in a reverse mechanism. The secretion of the hypothalamus-pituitary gland is inhibited, thus affecting the normal function of the gonad axis.

Fifth, other obstacles:

Excessive prolactin in the body can also cause some primary diseases, such as lateral hemianopsia and decreased vision next to tumors of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, or excessive production of androgen hormones between the adrenal hormones and the cortex.

Experts specifically remind that high prolactin levels are sometimes a single phenomenon, and sometimes can range from mild to severe, while some patients do not have particularly obvious symptoms. Therefore, in clinical practice, the treatment of patients with high prolactin levels should be based on the patient's actual situation. Different patients need to undergo blood tests to detect whether the concentration in the body is higher than the normal value.
