How to deal with itchy episiotomy wound

In life, many women will find that after giving birth, the episiotomy incision will be infected and itchy. The main reason is that many friends do not know that this is because the wound is not taken care of in time after giving birth. The following article will introduce in detail how to care for the episiotomy incision.

Some new mothers worry that after an episiotomy, the nerves in the vagina will be damaged, and the suture knots will remain in the vagina, causing the vagina to become loose, thus affecting their postpartum sexual life. In fact, episiotomy does not hinder postpartum sexual activity.

However, in order to heal the wound faster, the editor recommends that new mothers avoid postpartum sexual activity within 6 weeks after delivery. Because within 6 weeks after delivery, the tearing wound during delivery will affect the pain of postpartum AA, because the scar after suture is a harder fibrotic tissue compared to the soft private parts of the new mother. Therefore, during sex after childbirth, the pulling on each other can easily cause pain.

If the episiotomy or laceration is smooth and there is no poorly healed scar after repair, there will be no problem. On the contrary, if the wound is in a mess and the doctor does not repair it properly, the scars will be intertwined with each other, and it is very likely to cause pain during postpartum intercourse. Moreover, the lochia after delivery has not yet completely cleared up, and premature sexual intercourse by new mothers can easily cause wound infection.

Betadine can be used to treat wound swelling and pain

Under normal circumstances, after an episiotomy for a new mother, the wound can basically heal within a week after delivery, and after a period of time it can completely return to normal. The private parts will still maintain good elasticity and will have no effect on future sexual life.

For new mothers whose lacerations are more serious and whose wounds are still swollen and painful 10 days after delivery, the editor recommends adding betadine to the water for a sitz bath, or using a heating lamp to speed up wound recovery. Betadine is a water-soluble iodine preparation that is generally used to disinfect and clean wounds. Betadine has a bactericidal effect, while warm water and heating lamps can promote blood circulation through high temperature.

The above introduces how to treat itchy episiotomy wounds. Generally speaking, this is caused by bacterial infection due to lack of timely recovery and care. Endocrine secretion will be particularly high after childbirth, so we should pay attention to the choice of nursing skills and cleaning.
