What are the complications after menopause?

1. Postmenopausal osteoporosis

Estrogen has an inhibitory effect on bone metabolism. After menopause, women's bone metabolism accelerates, with bone resorption as the main factor, bone hyperplasia and loss, and osteoporosis gradually occurs. Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a very common disease among the elderly, with an incidence rate of 25% to 50% in women aged 60. We Chinese are susceptible to it. The main complication is fracture. The fracture rate of women aged 50 to 70 is 10 times higher than that of younger women. Therefore, it can reduce the quality of life and self-control, and even shorten the life expectancy.

2. Cardiovascular disease and blood sugar changes

Coronary heart disease is more common in men over 40 years old, but the incidence and mortality of this disease in women after menopause are higher.

The mortality rate has increased significantly, approaching or even exceeding that of men, and has become the leading cause of death for women in many countries. Authoritative experts once followed up 663 elderly people over 60 years old in Beijing for 8 years and found that coronary heart disease was the third leading cause of death.

How to take care of yourself after menopause

1. Self-examination of breasts

Women are still at risk of breast disease after menopause, and should still do regular self-examination.

2. Avoid sitting for long periods of time
