Many people think that testosterone is a hormone found only in men, and estrogen is found only in women. In fact, this view is wrong. Because both male and female hormones exist in both men and women, but the hormone content and demand vary depending on gender. So what happens if there is too much of one of these hormones in our bodies? Today we will look at the problem of excessive testosterone in women. Androgens exist in the female body and are secretions of female sexual desire, which promote healthy pregnancy in women. However, it is often found that female androgen levels are too high, which seriously affects female pregnancy and causes infertility. Reasons for high testosterone levels in women: 1. 60% of testosterone is bound to beta globulin in the blood, called testosterone-estradiol binding globulin (TEBG), about 38% (mainly androstenedione) is bound to albumin, and free testosterone accounts for only 2%, but it is active. If TEBG binds to estradiol more and binds to testosterone less, the free testosterone in the blood will increase. Second, due to excessive secretion of the ovary or adrenal cortex. Third, it may also be caused by abnormal peripheral conversion. 4. Hyperinsulinemia caused by insulin resistance can stimulate the ovary to secrete a large amount of androgen. Fifth, the enzyme system is disordered during the biosynthesis of steroid hormones, such as aromatase deficiency, androstenedione cannot be converted into estrone, and testosterone cannot be converted into estradiol, resulting in excessive accumulation of androstenedione, especially testosterone. Generally, obese patients have more androgen. The reasons for the high level of androgen in women are mainly due to changes in dietary structure, increased mental stress, and environmental factors. This causes the thyroid gland secretion in women to become unbalanced, testosterone levels to gradually increase, and estrogen levels to be suppressed. Excessive secretion of androgen in the body can cause the patient to experience symptoms such as obesity, excessive hair growth, infertility, acne, menstrual disorders, and even masculine characteristics. From the above, we can see that male hormones in women are both indispensable and cannot exist in too much. Excessive male hormones will disrupt women's normal physiological activities and lead to serious consequences such as infertility and polycystic ovary syndrome. If a woman finds herself having symptoms of excess androgen, she should seek medical attention immediately. |
