How to sleep well when you are two months pregnant

Many pregnant women pay less attention to the quality of their sleeping posture. They sleep however they want and however they feel comfortable. In fact, the quality of sleep is closely related to sleeping posture, and sleeping posture is also related to the physical and mental health of the pregnant woman and the baby. So, what sleeping positions are good when you are 2 months pregnant?

What sleeping positions are good during pregnancy?

After a woman becomes pregnant, the volume of her uterus increases from 5 ml when she is not pregnant to 5000 ml at full term, and the weight of her uterus also increases from 50 grams when she is not pregnant to 1000 grams when she is pregnant at full term. As the uterus and fetus grow, the sleeping posture of expectant mothers becomes more and more important. An incorrect sleeping posture will cause the abdomen to be subjected to direct external force, especially in the late pregnancy. It will not only affect the position of the uterus, but also increase the pressure of the uterus on surrounding tissues and organs, affecting the blood volume of the uterus and embryo.

During the second month of pregnancy, the uterus is still in the pelvis, and it is not easy to be severely compressed by external force or by itself. Therefore, you don’t need to pay too much attention to your sleeping posture, but you should change your previous bad sleeping posture, such as sleeping on your stomach, or hugging something to sleep. You can adopt any comfortable posture, either lying on your back or on your side.

However, it is recommended to sleep on the left side during pregnancy. Once you get used to the sleeping posture, you will be able to adapt to it more in the second trimester of pregnancy.

The impact of pregnant women's sleeping posture on the fetus

As your pregnancy progresses, you may find sleeping becoming more difficult. The increased size of the body makes it difficult to get a good night's sleep, or you may wake up with unexpected aches and pains or cramps. Sleeping posture can affect the health of you and your baby. Sleeping at an odd angle for a night is unlikely to cause any health problems for your baby, but sleeping on your back or on your right side for a long time can increase the risk of miscarriage.

Pregnant women who are trying to sleep on their left side can try moving a harder pillow back and forth between their knees. This area improves blood flow, helps kidney function and reduces swelling. In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, sleeping on your back will put too much pressure on your spine and stomach, so you will naturally want to sleep on your side. At this time, try to sleep on the left side as much as possible to facilitate the development of the baby.
