Is everything fine after a kidney transplant? Pay attention to these seven dietary recommendations!

1. Avoid high-sugar and high-salt diets : Immunosuppressants are required after kidney transplantation. A high-sugar diet may aggravate diabetes and affect the function of the transplanted kidney. A high-salt diet may increase blood pressure and affect the burden on the kidneys.

2. Limit high-cholesterol and high-plant protein foods : Avoid eating high-cholesterol foods such as animal offal and egg yolks, as well as high-plant protein foods such as beans, which may put extra burden on the kidneys.

3. Choose a low-fat, high-vitamin diet : Low-fat, high-fiber foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits should be chosen to ensure balanced nutrition while reducing discomfort to the kidneys.

4. Avoid raw, cold, irritating and unclean foods : Immunity is low after kidney transplantation, and raw, cold, irritating and unclean foods may cause gastrointestinal discomfort.

5. Appropriate intake of high-quality protein : A high-protein diet is recommended in the early postoperative period (first three months) to promote wound healing, but care should be taken to control the total protein intake. Afterwards, the diet should be adjusted to a normal or low-protein diet depending on the recovery of renal function.

6 Monitor weight and fluid intake : Patients after kidney transplantation should monitor weight changes, adjust daily fluid intake according to weight and urine volume, and maintain water and electrolyte balance.
