Professor Hu Zhongdong: Do celebrities favor breast cancer? Here are eight things to do to prevent it

Many celebrities have suffered from breast cancer! Does breast cancer favor celebrities?

The untimely deaths of stars such as Chen Xiaoxu, who played Lin Daiyu in the 1987 version of "Dream of Red Mansions", actors Li Ting and Li Yuanyuan, "TV drama queen" Ye Fan, singer Yao Beina, A-Shan, and Zhu Lijing have brought the term "breast cancer" into the public eye many times.

Some people would say that celebrities and strong women are under more pressure, so they are more likely to get sick. In fact, it is not that all celebrities are more likely to get sick, but it is easier for the outside world to know when celebrities get sick.

While we feel pity and grief for them, we are also reflecting a very real reality:

Many women ignore the severity and harmfulness of breast diseases!

Let’s take a look at the risk factors for breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in the world, with an average of one newly diagnosed patient every 1.8 seconds. It is the malignant tumor with the highest morbidity and mortality rate among women in my country, posing a serious threat to the health of women in my country.

Risk factors for breast cancer can be divided into 3 categories:

1. Unchangeable risk factors include

Genetic factors: Among women diagnosed with breast cancer, 13% to 19% have a first-degree family history of breast cancer.

Gene mutation: 5% to 10% of breast cancers are due to inherited gene mutations, of which breast cancer susceptibility genes 1 and 2 (BRCA1/2) mutations account for 20% to 25%.

2. Potentially modifiable risk factors, including estrogen exposure, childbearing, etc.;

3. Risk factors can be modified, such as obesity, drinking, etc.

Why do some celebrities who suffer from breast cancer die young while others live to be a hundred?

Caring for breast prevention is the key! Doing these eight things is very important

1. Eat fresher food

Fruits and vegetables are also important sources of dietary fiber for the human body, which can prevent breast cancer by binding estrogen and reducing the reabsorption of estrogen by the colon.

2. Less hormones

Exogenous estrogen can increase the level of estrogen in the body, which may increase the risk of breast cancer. Try to avoid using foods, health products, medicines, beauty and skin care products containing exogenous estrogen.

3. Stay away from tobacco and alcohol

Do not smoke and avoid passive smoking. Active smoking and long-term passive smoking significantly increase the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

Control your drinking or don't drink at all, don't drink and avoid beverages containing alcohol. Alcohol intake is closely related to the occurrence of many cancers.

4. Exercise more

Exercise has a very clear role in preventing breast cancer. We should actively, early and insist on physical exercise, ensure the length of exercise per week, and persevere and do it within our ability.

It is recommended to participate in an average of 150-300 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75-150 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise per week.

5. Lose some weight

Being overweight, obese, and gaining weight too quickly in a short period of time are important risk factors for the occurrence, recurrence, and metastasis of breast cancer. Women who are overweight must control their diet, exercise, and actively lose weight.

6. Go to bed earlier

Try to avoid staying up late. It is recommended that adults go to bed before 11 o'clock every night and get up at 6 to 7 o'clock in the morning to ensure 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

7. Keep your emotions stable

Domestic multi-center clinical studies have found that depression can promote the occurrence and development of breast cancer and increase the recurrence rate.

8. Have more frequent physical examinations

Regular breast examinations include breast self-examination and breast physical examination.

1. Time for breast self-examination and physical examination:

The best time to do it is one week after the menstrual period ends. You can do it at home once a month. Postmenopausal women can choose to do breast self-examination on the same day of each month.

2. Regular breast examination:

Low-risk groups should undergo breast ultrasound examination at least once a year and mammography (molybdenum target) examination every two years starting at age 40.

High-risk groups should undergo breast ultrasound examination every six months starting at the age of 25, and every six months after the age of 40, and breast mammography examination once a year.

For high-risk women with a family history of breast cancer, the age at which breast cancer screening should be started should be 10 years younger than the youngest person in the family diagnosed with breast cancer, but should be ≥ 25 years old.

It is recommended to actively treat benign breast diseases. The following groups should undergo BRCA1/2 pathogenic mutation gene testing:

(1) There is a known BRCA mutation in the family, one or more direct relatives before the age of 50, or two or more collateral relatives have breast cancer or ovarian cancer;

(2) Patients with onset age <45 years, aged 46 to 50 years and with a second primary breast cancer or breast cancer in a first-degree relative;

(3) Patients with triple-negative breast cancer under 60 years old.
