When playing outdoors, be careful of being bitten by these insects! You definitely need this insect prevention manual

In hot weather, many families choose to go outdoors to cool down by doing some refreshing activities such as rafting, river trekking, camping and picnicking. However, although playing outdoors is fun, if you are not careful, you may encounter a life-threatening situation - mosquito bites.

There are many cases of people being hospitalized after being bitten by mosquitoes every summer. In serious cases, the bites may even be life-threatening. Therefore, Dr. Liu Lijuan from the Department of Dermatology at Hunan Women and Children's Hospital reminds everyone: There are many mosquitoes in summer, so when you are playing outdoors, you must be careful of the following insects!

1. Tick typhus

When ticks bite people, they secrete an enzyme that paralyzes people. After being bitten by ticks, the skin will basically produce eschar. The incubation period of tick disease is 4-21 days. The first symptom is high fever. In addition to red eyes, there will be red and swollen skin, paralysis of the limbs, nausea and drowsiness. In severe cases, multiple organ failure will lead to death.

Therefore, when playing outdoors, do not sit on the grass casually, and pay attention to protecting the exposed parts of the body. If you have a long-term high fever after outdoor activities, and eschar is found in the waist, armpits, groin and other places, you must seek medical attention immediately.

2. Ticks

After being bitten by a tick, symptoms such as dermatitis, ulceration and erythema will appear at the bite site. In severe cases, there may be a persistent high fever, multiple organ failure, and even life-threatening conditions.

If you develop a sudden fever, fatigue, muscle pain, red bruises on your skin, and have sat on the grass in the past two days, go to the hospital for emergency treatment immediately and tell your doctor about this.

If you find a tick on your body, do not pull it hard to prevent the barbs on its mouth from penetrating deep into your body. You can first apply alcohol and then remove it with tweezers. Do not touch it directly with your hands. If the tick bites firmly or drills too deep, it is recommended to go directly to the hospital for treatment.

3. Rove beetle

Generally speaking, it is okay for a rove beetle to crawl onto the surface of the skin, but if you slap or crush it and the toxins in its body get on the skin, it may cause rove beetle dermatitis or cause strip-like or flaky edematous erythema.

If you find a rove beetle crawling on your skin, do not slap or crush it, but flick it away. If you are bitten by it, you can take antihistamines orally, apply antidote or topical glucocorticoids.

To avoid the risk of insect bites, Dr. Liu Lijuan recommends:

Try to wear light-colored long sleeves and long pants, tie up your sleeves and trouser legs tightly, and don't wear sandals, slippers, or open-toed shoes.

Apply insect repellent products, such as DEET, chlorpyrifos, etc., on the skin and clothes, avoiding wounds, eyes, nose, mouth, ears and other special parts. Note that babies under two months old cannot be sprayed with mosquito repellent containing DEET.

After returning home, check and clean your whole body, paying special attention to your armpits, elbows, neck, back of the ears, groin, etc. Also carefully check your scalp for red spots and swellings. If you suddenly develop a "black mole" on your body, be sure to repeatedly confirm whether it is a tick.
