Four Seasons Pharmacist says: To stay healthy in summer, you need to know your family's "medicine"

The hot summer, rising temperatures and increasingly humid weather can easily lead to certain diseases, such as heat stroke, colds caused by large temperature differences, and gastrointestinal diseases caused by liking to eat cold drinks, fruits, and salads. Based on the climate characteristics and common diseases in summer, Yaowa has compiled a list of household medicines to help you have a pleasant summer.

1. Drugs for treating heat stroke

The weather is hot in summer and it is easy to get heatstroke, which can cause symptoms such as dizziness, diarrhea and vomiting.

Commonly used medicines: Ren Dan, Shi Di Shui soft capsules, Huoxiang Zhengqi water/powder, etc.

Precautions: Huoxiang Zhengqi Water contains alcohol. People who are allergic to alcohol should avoid using it. It should not be used in combination with cephalosporins and nitroimidazole drugs (metronidazole, tinidazole, etc.). Avoid driving after use. Ren Dan is contraindicated for use in children and pregnant women.

2. Drugs for treating diarrhea

Eating too raw, cold or unhygienic food in summer may cause symptoms such as diarrhea.

Commonly used drugs: berberine, montmorillonite powder, oral rehydration salts, etc.

Note: If diarrhea symptoms do not improve after taking the medicine, please go to the hospital for further examination and treatment.

3. Drugs for constipation

Barbecue and beer are perfect for summer. But barbecue often involves spicy food, which may affect intestinal function and cause constipation.

Commonly used medicines: enema (for rectal use), lactulose oral solution, etc.

Note: When constipation occurs, you should eat more fiber-rich foods, increase exercise, drink water, etc.

4. Digestive drugs

It is hot in summer, and people are prone to poor appetite and other conditions. If necessary, you can choose drugs that promote digestion to help.

Commonly used medicines: Domperidone tablets, multienzyme tablets, and pediatric food digestion oral solution.

Note: Domperidone should be taken 15 to 30 minutes before meals or before bedtime.

5. Medicines for treating colds

In summer, it is inevitable to seek coolness, such as sleeping without a quilt at night, taking a cold shower, setting the air conditioner temperature too low, using an electric fan for a long time, drinking too many cold drinks when sweating profusely, etc. The sudden changes in temperature may cause body dysfunction and lead to a cold.

Commonly used drugs:

1. Cold medicine: cold and heat-clearing capsules/granules, etc.;

2. Medicines for wind-heat cold: Shuanghuanglian oral liquid, Qingkailing granules, Isatis root granules, Yinqiao Jiedu granules/capsules, etc.;

3. Medicines for summer-heat and dampness colds: Huoxiang Zhengqi water/powder, etc.

Note: You should identify the type of cold and treat it symptomatically. In addition to drug treatment, you should also drink enough water, rest regularly, and avoid being in an airtight environment with air conditioning for a long time.

6. Antipruritic drugs

There are many mosquitoes in summer, and many people will experience skin redness, swelling, itching, etc. after being bitten by mosquitoes.

Commonly used medicines: Fengyoujing, Qingliangyou, Wuji ointment, safflower oil, etc.

Note: If the skin is red, swollen, or itchy, you should scratch it moderately to avoid scratching the skin and causing infection.

7. Anti-prickly heat drugs

Due to the hot weather, the skin has poor heat dissipation, which can cause prickly heat rash, red, sesame-sized papules, blisters or pustules. Patients are often accompanied by symptoms such as excessive sweating.

Commonly used medicines: Ten Drops of Water, anti-itch and anti-inflammatory water.

Note: Keeping the house cool, dry and ventilated will help improve prickly heat.

The strong sunlight in summer can cause great damage to the skin and may cause UV allergies or other skin diseases, such as redness, itching, swelling, blisters and other symptoms.

Commonly used drugs: hydrocortisone acetate cream, desloratadine dry suspension, chlorpheniramine maleate tablets, etc.

Note: Topical ointments containing hormone ingredients should not be used for a long time. In addition, do not stay in direct sunlight for a long time to prevent heat stroke.

9. Drugs for skin infections

It is hot in summer, and the skin is easily infected by bacteria, and the bacteria multiply quickly, so drugs need to be used as soon as possible to inhibit or kill the bacteria.

Commonly used drugs: erythromycin ointment, Yunnan Baiyao aerosol, etc.

Note: Keep the skin clean before administration, because sweat will weaken the skin's immunity and further aggravate the infection.

10. External disinfectant drugs

Summer is a good season for sports, and it is inevitable to get bumped and injured during sports. If these wounds are not treated in time, they are easily invaded by bacteria and infected.

Commonly used drugs: iodine, calamine ointment, etc.

In addition, in the hot summer, the drugs should be stored under the storage conditions specified in the drug instructions to avoid expiration.
