How to judge the kidney's working capacity

How to judge the kidney's working capacity

The glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is an indicator for assessing renal function and can reflect the severity of renal impairment. It refers to the rate at which both kidneys generate filtrate within 1 minute (the normal range is 90 to 120 ml/min), that is, how many milliliters of blood can be filtered by the two kidneys per minute, or in layman's terms, the working capacity of the kidneys.

Indicators rise:

The glomerular filtration rate of pregnant women will increase physiologically, and may increase by 50% of the normal value in the third month of pregnancy, and gradually return to the normal range after delivery. In addition, the glomerular filtration rate will also increase in the early stages of diabetic nephropathy.

Index decline:

1. Physiological: Glomerular filtration rate will decrease physiologically with age.

2. Pathological: Common causes of kidney disease include primary kidney disease, such as various types of acute nephritis and chronic nephritis; and secondary kidney disease, such as hypertension, diabetes, tumors, autoimmune diseases and drugs.

The glomerular filtration rate is calculated according to a formula based on indicators such as blood creatinine. It is impossible to determine whether it has changed through clinical symptoms. Therefore, the annual physical examination at the company must be carried out carefully and attention must be paid to changes in this indicator.
