Recently, Wuhan has once again experienced rain, snow and freezing weather, which has caused a lot of inconvenience to citizens. In the past two days, the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University has admitted several patients with eye injuries caused by falling in the snow. Li Xiangyun, deputy chief physician of the hospital's fundus surgery department, reminded that if the road surface is icy in snowy days, people who accidentally fall and suffer eye injuries should go to the hospital for treatment in time. Ms. Xiao (a pseudonym), 37 years old, accidentally slipped while riding an electric bike to work in the morning. The right side of her face hit the ground hard, bleeding immediately, tears in her right eye, and she felt intense pain. With the help of passers-by, Ms. Xiao was sent to the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University for treatment. Li Xiangyun, deputy chief physician of the hospital's fundus surgery department, received Ms. Xiao and examined her. According to the examination results, deputy chief physician Li Xiangyun diagnosed Ms. Xiao with "right eyelid laceration, subconjunctival hemorrhage, orbital bone fracture, right eye intraocular lens displacement, eyeball contusion, and secondary glaucoma". It turned out that Ms. Xiao was a patient with high myopia and had undergone ICL lens implantation in another hospital 6 years ago to correct myopia. Unexpectedly, this fall caused the intraocular lens that had been implanted in her right eye to be "stuck" on the iris. To this end, the hospital immediately organized a multidisciplinary consultation with several experts in refractive surgery and fundus surgery. After discussion, several experts agreed that Ms. Xiao's right eyelid laceration should be sutured first, and she should be given nerve nutrition and hormone anti-inflammatory treatment in the hospital before the artificial lens in her right eye should be repositioned. It is understood that Wuhan experienced two spells of rain, snow and freezing weather after the Lunar New Year, causing many residents to fall and get injured. "The number of patients with eye injuries has also increased significantly compared to before," said Li Xiangyun, deputy chief physician. "There are four groups of people who are most likely to fall on snowy days: children who run too fast when playing in the snow are prone to slipping, which may lead to varying degrees of injuries; the elderly have osteoporosis, which can easily lead to fractures; women wearing high heels walking on the snow are very likely to slip and fall; bicycles and electric vehicles are prone to slipping, and citizens riding them are also prone to falling." said Li Xiangyun, deputy chief physician. Finally, Deputy Chief Physician Li Xiangyun reminded that people should try to reduce going out on snowy days. If they do go out, it is best to use public transportation. Cyclists must pay attention to safety, maintain a safe speed, and wear protective equipment such as safety helmets. If an eye injury occurs, do not squeeze the eyeball by yourself, do not rub the eyes, and do not put the fallen eyeball or eye contents back into the eye socket. Use clean gauze to lightly cover the eyes and go to the hospital for treatment in time. |
