What are the signs of breech presentation in late pregnancy?

Breech presentation is generally a malposition of the fetus, which means that natural delivery is not possible and a cesarean section is required. In fact, before giving birth, most women will experience some symptoms, such as water breaking, spotting, labor pains, etc. Everyone's symptoms are different. However, if water breaking or spotting occurs in the breech presentation, you must go to the hospital immediately for a detailed examination. Do not be careless. Failure to pay attention may put both adults and children in danger.

What are the signs before breech blockage?

1. Regular uterine contractions. When regular uterine contractions occur, occurring every 10-15 minutes and lasting for dozens of seconds each time, and the contractions do not disappear even if you rest in bed, and the intervals between them gradually shorten, the duration gradually lengthens, and the intensity of the contractions continues to increase, this is the beginning of labor.

2. Labor pains. What we usually call labor pains are actually periodic uterine contractions. At first, there is 10-20 seconds of abdominal tension every 30 minutes or 1 hour, and then the intervals become shorter and shorter, and regular uterine contractions are repeatedly strengthened. When there is a regular labor pain every 10 minutes, it is the "beginning of delivery." Of course, labor pains follow certain rules, and it doesn’t mean that the baby will be born immediately. For most expectant mothers, they must go through 12-15 hours of labor pains. Therefore, there is no need to panic if you experience labor symptoms.

3. Seeing blood. 24-48 hours before delivery, there will be "red show", that is, some bloody mucus will be discharged from the vagina. But it is worth noting that if the amount of bleeding is too heavy, it is likely to be a dangerous sign.

4. Water breaking. In most cases, the water breaks first in the breech position, but the breech position can sometimes turn into the head position, so there is no need to worry too much. Maybe it can be turned around later.

Correction of malposition of the fetus

If the fetus is still in breech position at 7 and a half months of pregnancy, you should follow the doctor's advice and try to correct the fetal position to cephalic position before delivery.

1. Chest-knee stand: Do it on the bed. Untie the abdominal belt when doing it so that the abdomen is not restrained and empty the urine. Keep your chest against the bed, with your knees and calves also against the bed. Spread your legs apart, with your calves and thighs at a 90-degree right angle. Start with 5 minutes and gradually increase to 10 to 15 minutes. Do this once in the morning and once in the evening. After you are done, lie quietly on your side on the bed to rest.

2. External version: The doctor uses his hands to push the fetal head toward the pelvis through the pregnant woman's abdominal wall, and the fetal buttocks toward the fundus of the uterus, so that the fetus is in a head position. Before the operation, a B-ultrasound should be performed to understand whether the fetal development is normal, whether the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck, the position of the placenta, whether there is placental abruption, and the amount of amniotic fluid. If the fetus is found to have developmental abnormalities, umbilical cord around the neck, placenta previa, or too little amniotic fluid, external version should not be performed.

After the fetal position changes to head position through external version, the abdomen is immediately bandaged with a belly band to prevent the fetus from turning into breech position again. After external version, the doctor will observe the fetal heart rate and if it is normal, the baby can go home. After returning home, pregnant women should carefully monitor the fetus themselves and count the fetal movements by themselves. At least three hours a day (morning, noon, and evening). If you find that the fetal movements are extremely active or decrease or become weak, seek medical attention immediately.
