Have you ever carefully observed your fingers? Do you feel that they are different from before? Do you know that the nail bed grows downwards and the fingertips are enlarged? If you have the following symptoms, it means that you have clubbing.

What is finger clubbing?

Clubbing digits, also known as drumstick fingers, are characterized by hyperplasia, hypertrophy, and club-shaped enlargement of the tips of fingers or toes. Its characteristics are that the terminal digits are significantly widened and thickened, and the nails are arched from the root to the tip, so that the base angle formed by the skin on the back of the finger (toe) and the nail is equal to or greater than 180°. Clubbing digits can be seen in a variety of diseases, and targeted treatment is carried out according to the cause.

I have clubbing, what's wrong with me? What disease causes this phenomenon?

First, cyanotic congenital heart disease

Second, respiratory diseases

Such as bronchial lung cancer, bronchiectasis, chronic lung abscess, empyema, emphysema, tuberculosis, pulmonary fibrosis. Clubbing is most common in hypoxic diseases.

Then there are digestive system diseases

Such as malabsorption syndrome, Crohn's disease, chronic ulcerative colitis, intestinal tuberculosis, chronic bacterial dysentery, amoebic dysentery, ascariasis, multiple colon polyps, etc.

Again, it can be seen in idiopathic osteoarthritis, syringomyelia, congenital syphilis, and certain poisonings such as arsenic, phosphorus, alcohol, etc.

Finally, nutritional disorders such as cirrhosis.

However, a definitive diagnosis requires a combination of laboratory test indicators and clinical symptoms.

Now look at your fingers and suspect that you have a disease? Don't panic, I will teach you a simple and free self-test trick.

So what were your test results?

If you suspect you have it but don't have the corresponding clinical symptoms, you don't need to worry too much. If you are still worried, I suggest you go to the hospital for consultation or have a physical examination on time every year.

If this happens, please go to the hospital immediately.

In daily life, we should pay attention to the small changes in our bodies and not ignore our health. Pay attention to physical health, take regular physical examinations if conditions permit, and take good care of yourself in a busy life.
