Health Science: Are you concerned about high blood sugar levels?

High blood sugar can cause various symptoms, such as always wanting to go to the toilet, feeling dry mouth, and not being relieved by drinking water, feeling thin, and often feeling weak and dizzy. High blood sugar can cause lesions in various tissues and organs throughout the body, leading to various acute and chronic complications, especially cerebrovascular disease. Long-term high blood sugar levels that are not controlled can also reduce resistance, cause nerve lesions, and even cause diabetic foot. Therefore, high blood sugar must be taken seriously.

If you have any of these 3 symptoms when sleeping, it means your blood sugar is high.

1. Frequent waking up at night

Excessively high blood sugar will increase blood osmotic pressure, causing thirst, polydipsia, and increased urination, mainly manifested by frequent waking up at night.

2. Feeling hungry before going to bed

In most cases, we eat dinner 3 hours before going to bed. During this time, all the food is basically completely digested, so people will not feel hungry.

However, if the sugar in the blood cannot be metabolized normally and excreted in the urine, the body will not be supplied with energy and there will be a noticeable feeling of hunger. This reminds us that blood sugar may be high.

3. Skin itching

When blood sugar is too high, it will cause the plasma osmotic pressure to increase, thereby hindering the normal metabolism of the skin. The skin will be irritated and feel itchy, especially at night.

To control blood sugar, the five pillars are indispensable.

The "five horses" in diabetes treatment are diet, exercise, health education, self-monitoring and medication.

1. Diet

The diet requires "two highs, four lows and one level". The "two highs" are high complex carbohydrates (such as cereals, beans, most fruits and vegetables) and high dietary fiber. The "four lows" are low sugar, low salt, low fat and low cholesterol. The "one level" is moderate protein. On the premise of ensuring balanced nutrition, it is recommended to eat more vegetables and fruits and less sugar and fat foods to ensure that blood sugar and blood lipids meet the standards.

2. Exercise

Exercise can increase insulin sensitivity, consume excess glycogen in the body, and lower blood sugar. Exercise can also lower blood lipids, reduce weight, improve sleep, enhance resistance, and prevent the occurrence of complications of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases from many aspects.

3. Health education

You should receive formal and scientific health education, and you can also exchange experiences with your diabetic friends. This will not only help you absorb useful experiences, but also help you relieve your mood and benefit your physical and mental health.

4. Blood glucose monitoring

Blood sugar monitoring is very important. Through blood sugar monitoring, you can figure out your own diet and exercise management plan, and it also helps you cooperate with doctors to regulate your blood sugar.

5. Medication

Drugs are divided into two categories: oral hypoglycemic drugs and insulin. On the basis of diet and exercise, combined with drug treatment, they can effectively manage blood sugar, with the aim of bringing blood sugar levels into standard and reducing the occurrence of complications.
