RivalIQ: Top 10 Outdoor Brands on Social Media by 2023

RivalIO’s latest report reveals the boldest outdoor brands on social media this year. From dynamic new products to eye-popping landscapes and more, RivalIO dives deep into the top trends every outdoor brand is driving engagement across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter.

1. Burton Snowboards

Snowboard and winter apparel brand Burton stood out in the alpine park this year, finishing in the top 10 on three of the four channels to take home the overall title.

2. Atomic

Atomic took the overall runner-up spot this year, thanks to a strong presence on Instagram and Facebook, and a big help from their loyal fan base. The ski and winter gear brand may have fewer followers than its competitors, but those fans are all leaving comments with their favorite outdoor brands.

3. Filson

Despite not finishing in the top 10 in any event, Filson still earned the bronze medal, a reminder that sometimes slow and steady wins the race.

4. Simms Fishing Products

Simms Fishing Products has found huge success on social media with a perfect combination of inspiration and humor. The fishing tackle brand is particularly strong on Instagram and Facebook, but it’s also ranked high on TikTok.

5. YETI

Despite completely ignoring Twitter, YETI has seen impressive engagement and total follower numbers on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook this year. Having a large following helps brands get more engagement on these channels.

6. Patagonia

This year, Patagonia, which uses its massive following to fight for a number of conservation causes close to home for nature lovers everywhere, took sixth place.

7. Specialized Bicycles

Specialized Bicycles stood out on social media this year thanks to customized content for each channel rather than an over-reliance on recycling and repackaging.

8. Hydro Flask

Hydro Flask did something this year that almost no other outdoor brand has done: it achieved a top ranking on TikTok. The video-heavy channel can be tricky for brands without an in-house team dedicated to producing video content, but Hydro Flask manages it with a combination of product deep dives and humor.

9. Arc'teryx

Apparel brand Arc’teryx only ranked in the top 10 on TikTok this year, but above-average performance on the other channels we studied helped the brand jump to ninth place.

10. Oakley

Looking cool was a prerequisite for both people and products on Oakley's social media this year, helping the brand to a 10th-place finish on both Instagram and Twitter.
