Tencent: WeChat and WeChat monthly active users reached 1.313 billion in Q4 2022, up 3.5% year-on-year

Recently in the afternoon, Tencent Holdings released its fourth quarter and full year financial report for 2022.

In the whole of 2022, Tencent's revenue was 554.55 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1%; net profit was 188.24 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 16%; under non-International Financial Reporting Standards, net profit was 115.65 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 7%.

The financial report shows that in the fourth quarter, WeChat and WeChat had 1.313 billion monthly active users, a year-on-year increase of 3.5%, continuing to sit firmly on the throne of "the first national APP".

Driven by the growth of chat and non-chat scenarios, the total usage time of WeChat continued to grow in 2022. The usage time of mini programs was twice that of the same period last year, exceeding the usage time of Moments. The usage time of video accounts was three times that of the same period last year, exceeding the usage time of Moments.

As the most widely used social software in China, WeChat has swept all social chat software with an unrivaled attitude since its birth in 2011.

In its early stages, WeChat once sucked traffic from QQ. More than 10 years later, WeChat’s monthly active users are more than twice that of mobile QQ.

According to the latest "TOP 10 Monthly Active Ranking of Chinese Communication and Social Apps in 2022" released by iMedia Consulting, the top ten apps are: WeChat, QQ, Sina Weibo, Xiaohongshu, Momo, Baidu Tieba, Tantan, Zhihu, Soul, and Zuiyou.

Among them, WeChat is far ahead with over 1 billion monthly active users (excluding WeChat) , QQ ranks second with over 700 million monthly active users, Sina Weibo has over 300 million monthly active users, Xiaohongshu has over 170 million monthly active users, and Momo has nearly 60 million monthly active users.
