Although emojis have been around for decades, they were introduced to the Android/iOS mobile operating systems in the 2010s, and their development has been on a fast track. Thanks to allowing people to convey emotions in a more figurative way (rather than just boring text), they have gradually become an indispensable part of digital communication. Interestingly, in a recent detailed report, Crossword-Solver has analyzed and summarized the use of emojis around the world. Taking Twitter as an example, Crossword-Solver found that “Laughing and Crying” ranked first in 75 market regions. Compared with the second-ranked red heart, the former led by as much as 19%. As for the US market, although the situation varies from state to state, the most commonly used emoji overall is "laughing and crying." Interestingly, green Wordle and "hot" emojis also made the front page in a few states. Finally, I believe that with the continuous development of the digital world and the strong promotion of major instant messaging app manufacturers, the use of emoticons will become more and more popular. For example, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, launched “reaction emojis” in a recent update. And Google’s newly launched Android 13 beta 2 also includes improvements to Emoji Kitchen. From cnBeta.COM |
