ByteDance: The number of PICO applications has exceeded 530, and 180 games have generated revenues exceeding 100,000 yuan

PICO, the XR platform under ByteDance, announced that the official registration channel for the "PICO 2023 First XR Developer Challenge" has officially opened on September 25.

Ma Jiesi, product manager of PICO OS, said that the XR industry has entered a new stage of development and has begun to transition from VR, which emphasizes virtuality, to VR+MR, which integrates the virtual and the real. This change not only provides users with more diversified product value, but also gives developers greater creative space to a certain extent.

In Ma Jiesi's view, developers from all walks of life have the opportunity to integrate into the XR development field and create new opportunities and new markets together. At the same time, breakthroughs in optical display, chip computing power, environmental perception, human-computer interaction and other technologies have also accelerated the development of the XR industry.

Whether it is AR or VR, a complete ecosystem needs to be built. The original intention of holding this challenge is to attract developers' attention and participation. It is understood that this challenge will be held in multiple countries and regions including Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, and China at the same time, providing a stage for global developers to showcase their talents and realize their creativity.

Data disclosed by PICO shows that, as of now, the number of applications in the PICO App Store has exceeded 530, and "masterpieces" account for nearly 40%. Among them, the contribution of domestic developers cannot be ignored. More than 100 applications in the PICO App Store, including games, videos, sports, office, education, music, etc., are from domestic developers.

In addition, PICO also brings more users and revenue to developers. 180 games have revenue exceeding 100,000 yuan, and nearly 50 applications have been downloaded more than 100,000 times. Some of the platform's top developers have an annual income of more than 8 million yuan on PICO.
