CINNO Research: The installation rate of side fingerprint recognition devices on domestic mobile phones will reach 44% in the first half of 2022

Today, data statistics agency CINNO Research released monitoring data, showing that in the first half of 2022, the number of smartphones equipped with fingerprint unlocking in China was about 110 million.

Among these 110 million mobile phones, the total number of mobile phones using side fingerprint is about 59.54 million, an increase of 10 percentage points year-on-year to 44%.

In comparison, the total number of domestic smartphones equipped with under-screen fingerprint recognition is about 44.36 million, a year-on-year decrease of 25%.

Throughout the first half of 2022, the domestic brand most keen on side fingerprint recognition is vivo, accounting for 26% of the usage . Honor and Xiaomi also have a large number of models that love to use side fingerprint recognition, ranking second and third.

It can be seen that because the side fingerprint solution has lower cost and is more mature, it is quite popular among manufacturers and consumers in the low- and mid-end markets. In contrast, fingerprint recognition, which once appeared on thousand-yuan phones, is now mostly used in high-end models.
