Flurry Analytics: iPhone ranked in the top 9 mobile device activation rates in the United States during Christmas

Apple was the winner of the holiday gifting season with the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and a slew of older models, which gave it a commanding lead over all other manufacturers, at least in the United States, according to a report from Flurry Analytics.

The report shows that from Christmas to New Year's Eve, Apple iPhones and iPads accounted for 43% of all mobile device activations in the United States.

Despite not appearing on the top 10 list, Samsung was actually the second most successful manufacturer over the entire US holiday period, with a wide variety of budget phones accounting for the majority of its activations.

The report said that on Christmas Day alone, Apple iPhone models occupied the top nine activations, which means that many iPhones were placed under the Christmas tree, waiting to be unwrapped.

This week, Apple's entry-level flagship iPhone 11 was unsurprisingly the most popular phone, accounting for 6.2% of total sales. The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max accounted for 5.27% of the market share.

Several other older iPhone models made the list, including the iPhone XR, iPhone 8, iPhone 7, and even the iPhone 6 Plus.

This report only covers phones and tablets. All signs point to strong demand for AirPods and Apple Watch during the holiday season as well. Apple will report its official quarterly earnings on January 28. Although Apple no longer releases unit sales figures, we will see how Apple's holiday quarter sales impact its financial results.
