Popular Science | Are you still lying on your stomach for a nap? Beware of myopia!

As the weather gets colder, it is easiest to feel sleepy after a warm lunch. A short nap can relieve fatigue and refresh your mind, making you full of energy for study and work in the afternoon!

However, napping must be done in the right way. Let's first look at the possible negative effects of unhealthy napping methods.

Inappropriate napping may cause:

1. Prone to myopia

Sleeping on your stomach will cause the eyeballs to be compressed, and temporary blurred vision will usually occur after a nap. Doing this for a long time will cause excessive intraocular pressure, which will eventually cause the eyeballs to swell, the eye axis to lengthen, and myopia to form. It is also easy to increase the incidence of glaucoma.

2. Affecting stomach digestion function

After lunch, it is recommended to do some light housework or take a 20-minute walk. Children can choose to stand to let the food digest for a while. If you take a nap on the table immediately after lunch, it will affect the digestive function of the stomach and cause bloating. At the same time, because sleeping on the arms, multiple nerves are compressed, and you often feel anxious and uneasy during the nap.

3. Limb pain

Sleeping on your stomach will compress your arms and face for a long time, which will affect normal blood circulation and nerve conduction, causing numbness or even soreness in your arms and face. Over time, it may develop into local nerve paralysis or facial deformation.

The right way to take a nap:

1. During lunch break, it is recommended to lie on your back or side for about 30 minutes. The nap time should not be too long.

2. If conditions do not allow you to lie down and rest, you can use a nap pillow.
