Think Tank Online: Statistics on the application of China Mobile App Store (MM) in May 2012

According to statistics from Think Tank Online, by the end of May 2012, the total number of products listed on China Mobile's MM application store was 127,469, including 33,423 applications, 29,680 games, and 64,366 themes. Theme applications still account for the absolute majority.

Mobile MM's software, games, and theme applications currently include 25, 12, and 11 categories of subdivided applications respectively. According to statistics in May this year, the highest ranking product on the shelves in the software category is e-books, with 1,127 products on the shelves. In the game category, casual puzzle games rank first with 1,378 products on the shelves. In the theme category, love and constellation products rank first with 595 products.

In terms of price, 7.7% of them are free applications and 92.3% are paid applications. In recent years, free applications have gradually decreased, and paid applications are mainly concentrated in the 0-1 yuan, 1-2 yuan, and 9-10 yuan ranges. Among them, the proportion of application products in the 0-1 yuan range is relatively large, and this range is mainly theme applications, while the 9-10 yuan range is mainly game applications.

With the popularity of app stores, more and more mobile phone users are willing to pay for mobile phone applications. However, no matter how the product is priced, the key is that mobile phone application software meets user needs. Only by meeting the needs can users be motivated to pay.

According to data released by China Mobile Developer Community, in January 2012, MM developers' sales revenue exceeded 30 million yuan, a month-on-month increase of 64%. Individual developers' sales revenue accounted for 55% of MM's total sales revenue. As of January 2012, individual developers' sales revenue has been growing for 9 consecutive months, with an average growth rate of 53%. Individual developers have become important partners of MM.
