Socialbakers: Google+ brand pages grow four times faster than Twitter

On the evening of February 21, 2012, a report recently released by social media research company Socialbakers showed that the growth rate of brand homepages on Google+ far exceeded that of Twitter. Socialbakers mainly focused on the number of new followers of brand homepages in a month.

Google+ launched the brand homepage service in November last year, while Twitter officially launched the service in December last year. However, before Twitter launched the service, advertisers had already used some of the website's features for marketing. Compared with Google+, Twitter has been used for brand promotion for a longer time.

Since it was launched only four months ago, it makes sense that Google+ brand pages are growing faster than Twitter. Among the top five brand pages on Twitter, H&M has the fastest growth, adding more than 88,500 followers in one month.

On Google+, H&M ranks second, with 287,000 new followers per month. The fastest growing brand on Google+ is Angry Birds, with 350,000 new followers per month. In terms of total followers, H&M, for example, has 816,000 followers on Twitter and 530,000 on Google+.

Industry insiders believe that Google+ pages are more in line with the needs of brands and users to interact, so the real competitor of Google+ should be Facebook. However, data shows that in terms of the total number of users and brand interactions, Google+ is less than 1/100 of Facebook.

Currently, the fastest growing brand on Facebook is Angry Birds, which has gained 4 million new fans in one month. H&M has gained 730,000 new Facebook fans in the past month, bringing its total number of fans to 9.9 million. In addition, Facebook users interact with brands much more frequently than Google+ users.
